    Responsibilities

    Job Summary

    The Director, Strategic Initiatives serves as a senior leader within Cordis’ _Spark Program_ , a rotational leadership development initiative designed to accelerate executive readiness. In this role, the Director will be entrusted with leading enterprise-critical strategic projects tied to Cordis’ global growth agenda, directly partnering with senior executives and cross-functional leaders. While rotations will provide broad exposure across functional, regional, and enterprise domains, each assignment carries full accountability for defining, governing, and delivering transformation priorities.

     

    At the completion of the 2–3 year program (with 2–3 rotations), Directors are expected to transition into permanent functional or regional leadership roles within the business, building on their program experience. Spark participants receive mentorship from senior executives, targeted leadership development, and structured opportunities to shape Cordis’ future performance.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    + Lead enterprise-level strategic initiative aligned to Cordis’ “Vital Few” priorities with accountability for scope, execution, and measurable business outcomes.

    + Define project vision, roadmap, and governance processes; ensuring alignment across multiple functions and regions.

    + Partner with senior executives to shape 3-5 year strategic plans within assigned functions or geographies.

    + Drive disciplined execution, including quantitative and qualitative analysis such as financial impact assessment, risk management, and performance tracking.

    + Serve as a change agent: anticipate risks, resolve roadblocks, and enable adoption of new ways of working.

    + Deliver executive-level presentations, business cases, and recommendations to guide decision-making.

    + Provide thought leadership on process improvements and emerging opportunities across the enterprise.

    + Mentor, coach, and elevate junior team members; serve as a visible role model for Cordis’ leadership culture.

    + Rotate across 2–3 assignments, each with enterprise-level scope, to broaden exposure and impact.

    Qualifications

    + 15 years of relevant experience in consulting, investment banking, or strategy.

    + Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or advanced degree preferred. Combined education and experience will be considered.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience

    + Experience leading enterprise-scale transformation efforts.

    + Strong technical education (i.e., operations, engineering, program management, finance, etc.) preferred.

    + Medical device or healthcare experience a plus.

    + Project/program management experience / certification a plus.

    Expected Areas of Competence

    + Proven leadership and ability to influence business transformation and large-scale program management.

    + Strong project / program management skillset, including scoping, execution / tracking, metrics, risk mitigation, stakeholder management, and change management.

    + Ability to create and gain buy-in for business cases and value creation and see through to realization.

    + Exceptional problem-solving and analytical capability, with the ability to synthesize complex data.

    + Strong ability to communicate at the executive level.

    + Ability to work across regions, divisions and functions to influence change across the organization.

    + Provide direction and scope guardrails to workstream leaders.

    + Ability to resolve cross team conflicts.

    + Exceptional teaming & collaboration both internally & externally.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
