Job Description:

This request is to fill a Software Engineer position on the Pro Intelligence (FPI) team. The Software Engineer role will work on a balanced team and collaborate with a Product Owner, Product Manager, and Product Designer to deliver products to support Pro Fleet Telematics and CVE.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Software developer with responsibilities to define, design, develop, and deploy services and applications in a micro service / cloud-based architecture.

+ Ensure functional and non-functional quality and on-time delivery using agile principles.

+ Embrace extreme programming practices including paired development, test driven development, and continuous delivery to release early and often.

+ Collaborate and work closely together with a balanced team of developers.

+ Employees in this job function develop and maintain the back-end/ server-side parts of an application, typically consisting of APIs, databases and other services containing business logic. They work with various languages and tools to create and maintain services on-prem or in the cloud.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Engage with customers to understand their use-cases and requirements

+ Solve complex problems by designing, developing, and delivering using various tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies \

+ Align with architecture guidelines for unified and coherent approach to development

+ Design, develop, and deliver new code using various tools, languages, frameworks, and technologies

+ Develop and maintain back-end applications like APIs and microservices using server-side languages like Java, Python, C#, etc.

+ Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user interface elements and with cross functional teams like product owners, designers, architects etc.

+ Manage application deployment to the cloud or on-prem, health and performance monitoring, security hardening and disaster recovery for deployed applications

+ Manage data storage and retrievals in applications by utilizing database technologies such as Postgres, MySQL, MongoDB, etc.

+ Promote improvements in programming practices, such as test-driven development, continuous integration, and continuous delivery

+ Optimize back-end infrastructure and deployment practices to improve application resiliency and reliability

+ Support security practices to safeguard user data including encryption and anonymization

Skills Required:

+ Spring Boot – Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and secure microservices and web applications using the Spring Boot framework. This includes leveraging Spring ecosystem components, integrating with databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness of applications.

+ REST APIs – Architect, implement, and maintain well-documented, efficient, and scalable RESTful APIs.

+ Java – Utilize strong proficiency in Java programming to write clean, efficient, and testable code, applying object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.

Skills Preferred:

+ GCP – Have experience working with GCP or equivalent services to design, develop and deploy cloud-native scalable solutions.

+ Kotlin - Develop and maintain applications using the Kotlin programming language, potentially focusing on backend services or Android development, while adhering to best practices and design patterns.

Experience Required:

+ Java development. Experience building micro service and cloud based solutions using Spring Platform (Spring MVC, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud), OAuth, Swagger, etc.

+ Experience with cloud environments (GCP, Azure, Pivotal Cloud Foundry or similar)

+ Web service delivery experience (using REST) for backend services

+ Experience with TDD and Agile Methodologies.

+ Experience with software development tools (backlog management, source code management, automated and unit test management, CI/CD, etc)

+ Proven ability to work both individually and collaboratively

+ Strong communication skills and ability to think above and beyond baseline requirements.

+ 8+ years in software development

Education Required:

+ Bachelor's Degree
