    The Opportunity

     

    This position works out of our Westfield, IN location in the Structural Heart Clinical Affairs division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

     

    As the Quality Engineering Technician, you’ll provide technical assistance to Engineering to support manufacturing efforts by implementing corrective and preventative actions. You will assist Engineers in developing methods and procedures to control or improve manufacturing processes.

     

    This position is on a Monday - Friday, 6 AM - 2:30 PM schedule.

    What You’ll Work On

    + Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional policies and procedures.

    + Assists Engineering in providing manufacturing support by learning to analyze data and identify manufacturing issues and trends.

    + Assists in identifying manufacturing issues by working with Engineering to determine root cause and implement corrective and preventative action.

    + Learns process to disposition non-conforming material by utilizing quality tools and by developing knowledge of manufacturing practices and procedures.

    + Helps to develop and implement process improvements by assisting Engineering in researching and validating changes in processes/equipment and test methods to improve yield and/or reduce cycle time per established procedures.

    + Monitor group performance metrics and work with the supervisor/engineer to develop and take corrective action(s).

    + Coordinate the documentation of training. May also train operators on process changes and perform operator certification on-the-job training and testing.

    + Understands all operations and support systems including inventory, traceability, and documentation systems. Key contact person for internal audits when area supervisor/engineer is absent.

    + May temporarily assign work to others as needed.

    + Plans and organizes non-routine tasks with approval. Initiates or maintains work schedule. Establishes priorities of work assignments.

    + Solves a wide range of complex problems requiring advanced interpretation of generally defined procedures and practices. Selects methods and practices to obtain imaginative, thorough, and practical solutions to questions. Understands organizational structure and positions of key employees. Maintains general knowledge of products/services associated with area and employees involved with specific product lines and services.

    + Participate in and lead cross functional teams to solve manufacturing problems.

    Required Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    + High School diploma or equivalent required

    + 3–5 years of related work experience or equivalent combination

    + Two-year degree or some college credits preferred

    Technical Skills

    + Broad understanding of general technical concepts and practices in Quality

    + Familiarity with product or systems fundamentals

    + Ability to interpret numerical and statistical data

    + Proficient in using computer software to solve moderately complex problems

    Work Environment

    + Role performed in a regulated, quality system environment

    + Accuracy is critical—errors may lead to noncompliance with government regulations

    Responsibilities

    + Set up, test, repair, inspect, and maintain equipment, materials, systems, and products

    + Make adjustments, modifications, and replacements as needed

    + Use sound judgment to troubleshoot and improve existing processes

    + Suggest alternative solutions when appropriate

    + Demonstrate a high level of initiative and independence in daily tasks

    The base pay for this position is $18.65 – $37.35 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
