The Product Development Manager – Hot Foods will lead the innovation, and execution of our hot food program. This role will play a critical part in shaping the customer experience by delivering products that balance flavor, quality, operational ease, and profitability across our stores. Key Responsibilities:

+ Product Innovation & Development: Lead the development and commercialization of new and existing hot foods products from ideation to launch

+ Collaborate with insights and category management teams to identify emerging food trends, customer preferences, and whitespace opportunities

+ Develop recipes, formulations, and product specifications in collaboration with culinary teams and supplier partners

+ Conduct competitive benchmarking analysis, product cuttings, sensory panels, and customer testing (sensory, CLT, focus groups) to refine and validate product performance. Analyze data to inform menu, packaging, and operations opportunities

+ Support marketing photo shoots and job aid development for all new and existing products

+ Manage multiple vendors and identify product synergies that align with the hot food platform. Initiate all specifications via TraceGains system

+ Attend first production runs of new items, verifying product meets specifications and quality requirements

+ Cross-Functional Leadership

+ Partner with marketing, food operations, category teams and strategic sourcing to ensure product launches are successful, scalable, and operationally feasible

+ Collaborate with equipment and packaging teams to ensure food quality, safety, and consistency in execution. Test packaging forms

+ Manage external supplier relationships to drive product innovation, ensure compliance, and optimize costs. Business & Financial Accountability.

+ Own the products – new and existing - ensuring strong performance of hot foods program.

+ Monitor sales performance, margin, and customer feedback to optimize product.

+ Develop business cases for new product introductions, collaborating with manufacturers and category manager(s) to achieve financial targets.

+ Quality, Compliance & Brand Standards • Ensure all products meet food safety, regulatory, and quality assurance standards through close collaboration with Quality Assurance team and Strategic Sourcing. • Uphold 7-Eleven’s brand promise of consistent product excellence and operational simplicity. • Champion continuous improvement to enhance customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.

Qualifications:

+ Education:

Completed bachelor’s degree in food science, Culinary Arts, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred.

+ Work Experience: 5+ years of experience in food product development, culinary innovation, or category management, preferably in convenience retail, QSR, or foodservice.

+ Years of Management Experience: 3+ years

• Proven track record of successful product development and launches• Strong project management and collaboration skills.• Excellent sensory evaluation and product testing skills.• Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. • Passion for food, customer experience, and innovation. Specific Knowledge and Skills• Conceptual thinker who can ideate using consumer insights and our business system as framework.• Influencing ability with partners, franchisees, merchandising and operations.• Intellectual curiosity, creativity, passion for food.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.• Strong organizational and project management skills Physical Requirements: Kneeling, Stooping, Walking, Standing, Bending, Repetitive Motion, Overhead Lifting and reaching, equipment moving up to 50lbs, carrying or holding items for short periods of time. Will be in out of freezers and coolers where products are stored.
