    PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

    Manage the Business Planning and Support team to support operations leadership in business planning, operational governance, oversight and support. Day to day management responsibilities are diverse and complex, including coordination among all operations departments in industry benchmarking activities, business planning activities, regular department management review meetings, completion of all commitments and compliance items, as well as performance management of management employees. Responsibilities involve both internal and external contacts regarding issues critical to operations. Develop operational governance processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.

     

    Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

    Primary Duties

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

    + Implement regional strategic objectives. Provide direction and leadership and apply benchmark learning's to focus efforts on achieving company and business unit goals. Monitor, review and provide guidance to meet scorecard metrics around safety, productivity, reliability and customer service. (25%)

    + Direct the construction, maintenance and operation of all electric distribution new business, facility relocation, system reinforcement, repair/replace and preventative maintenance inspection activities. Includes providing assistance in outage response and restoration, distribution switching and the implementation of distribution operating contingency plans in order to support the operating system. (25%)

    + Provide leadership to and development of the Overhead and Operating departments at the assigned location. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for growth and learning for construction personnel. Develop and execute labor strategies involving employees covered under the CBA. (15%)

    + Regularly interface with key leadership while representing the Overhead, Underground and Operating organizations on issues and initiatives related to the electric distribution system, reliability, preventative maintenance and regulatory compliance. Interface with customers (internal and external) in order to resolve construction related issues. (15%)

    + Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance safety culture and an innovative organization. Lead the Electric Operations team in promoting diversity. Serve as a change agent for business initiatives and assures that the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives. (10%)

    + Support preparation and manage the overall Regional Electric Operations budget. Establish and monitor business plans and Electric Operations financial objectives. Balance cost control with expenditures necessary for emergency response. (10%)

    + Manage the business planning and support group to oversee the lifecycle of contracted Distribution work – scheduling, contract coordination, and execution of construction and maintenance work.

    + Manage, coach and develop team members in a high-performance environment.

    + Manage cross-functional assignments or projects as appropriate.

    + Review and approval of contract requisitions, contract change requests, and contract payment authorizations ensuring alignment negotiated labor rates

    + Implement regional strategic objectives. Provide direction and leadership and apply benchmark learning's to focus efforts on achieving company and business unit goals.

    + Regularly interface with key leadership while representing the organization on issues and initiatives related to contract coordination and Distribution corrective and preventative maintenance work. Interface with internal and external stakeholders to resolve contract and construction related issues.

    + Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance safety culture and an innovative organization. Lead the Business Planning & Support team in 1. Improving the Business (Strategy/goals) 2. Demonstrating our Core Competency Behaviors 3. Improving Self and the team (Development).

    + Serve as a change agent for business initiatives – assuring that the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

    + Ability to understand distribution construction, operation, engineering, and or project management and oversee business planning function in a fast paced work environment

    + Excellent leadership and strategic skills to lead a large group of leaders and individual contributors to guide them towards strategic improvements.

    + Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven abilities to communicate at all levels including senior executives.

    + Strong planning, organizational and problem solving skills, and attention to detail, initiative and the ability to effectively manage change and successfully complete multiple tasks under constantly changing conditions.

    + Manage the distribution business planning and support group to oversee distribution overhead, underground, Tallyboard, and Third Party Attachment construction, business planning, benchmarking, operational governance process and ensure timely completion of various customer projects.

    + Manage, coach and develop supervisors and their respective teams in a high performance environment.

    + Manage cross-functional assignments or projects as appropriate.

    Minimum Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    + Bachelor's Degree and 7-10 years of related experience, including at least 4 years of managerial or supervisory experience or in lieu of bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of related experience is required.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of collective bargaining agreements.

    + Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of electric distribution systems.

    + Demonstrated knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance.

    + Proven leadership ability in a high performance results driven culture.

    + Proven high-level management skills in coaching and development of business skills.

    + Proven performance management skills including decisiveness, judgment, negotiation, motivation, innovation and development of people.

    + Demonstrated ability to build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change.

    + Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including new technology.

    + Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value.

    Preferred Qualifications

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    + Graduate Degree or Graduate level work in Engineering, Business Administration or related field is desirable.

    + Advanced degree or professional certification preferred (such as PE, PMP) Job Scope Lead the business planning and support team to perform strategic and tactical assessment of operational performance leveraging industry benchmarking information and other pertinent information, and develop long range business plan.

    + Develop operational governance processes and procedures to ensure efficiency and compliance.

    + Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $124,800.00/Yr. – $171,600.00/Yr.
