Description:
Summary
As a cook with Trinity Health, you will prepare and cooks food for patients, employees, visitors, and for special catered events. Maintain a clean and sanitary work area and conform to all health, safety, and infection control standards.
Pay Starting at $16.34 per hour or higher based on experience.

Education
+ High school graduate or equivalent required.
+ Associate's degree in culinary arts is preferred. Refer to the Experience Section for exception of minimum qualifications.
Special Skill / Aptitudes
+ Must be able to pass the written and practical test given by the Executive Chef.
+ Must be able to read, write, and follow instructions accurately.
+ Must have thorough knowledge of all cooking styles, and be able to read, follow, and execute standardized recipes.
+ Excellent customer service orientation skills necessary to deal effectively with various levels of hospital personnel, outside customers and community groups.
Experience
+ Minimum of two (2) years as a cook in a high-volume full-service restaurant OR associate's degree in culinary arts.
+ Current Serve-Safe certification preferred.
Duties / Responsibilities:
+ Reviews menus and production sheets to determine the type and quantities of meats, vegetables, starches, and soups to be prepared.
+ Bakes, roasts, broils, sautés, and steams meat, fish, poultry, vegetables, and other foods as required and in a timely manner to maintain highest quality of product.
+ Slices or portions meats, fish and poultry for serving, to correct/ordered weight.
+ Facilitating the production of meals on the tray line.
+ Maintains the cooking area in a clean, neat, and orderly manner. Adheres to all regulatory agency requirements.
+ Attends all in-service education and other meetings as directed. Performs other duties as assigned and assists other associates when needed to keep operations running smoothly.
Working Conditions:
+ Temperature variations in work area are extreme with exposure to cold storage conditions and heat from production equipment.
+ Stand up work = 100% of shift. Frequent lifting from floor to waist upto 30 pounds. Frequent bending and moving at shoulder height.
+ Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during shift (ie: slip resistant shoes, cutting glove, goggles)
