    The Drake School of Journalism and Mass Communication (SJMC) is accredited by ACEJMC and offers seven award-winning undergraduate majors: advertising, digital media production, magazine and brand media, multimedia journalism, public relations, strategic political communication, and sports media and communication.

    Job Summary:

    The Drake SJMC invites applications for an Adjunct Instructor in Reporting and Writing Principles (JMC 054) for Spring Semester, 2026.

     

    This course help students build skills in information evaluation, fact-gathering methods and journalism writing style, with extensive practice. The course is open to SJMC majors and minors only.

     

    Essential functions of this position include teaching, evaluating student work, and assigning grades as well as meeting periodically with department supervisor to discuss the class.

     

    This is a one-semester course to be taught in the Spring 2026. The spring semester starts on January 26,2026.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree

    • Professional journalism experience

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Master’s Degree is preferred

    • Evidence of teaching effectiveness in an active, engaged classroom
