    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Texas Medical Branch John Sealy School of Medicine in Galveston is seeking a full-time Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in the Gynecology Division. This is a unique opportunity to join a strong team of academic faculty dedicated to providing comprehensive women’s health care while training the next generation of obstetricians and gynecologists.

     

    The successful candidate will practice primarily at UTMB’s Main Campus on Galveston Island, with the possibility of providing care 1-2 days per week at one of UTMB’s off-island clinics. This position offers the ability to provide full-scope obstetrics and gynecologic care with a focus on gynecology and gynecologic surgery, while contributing to resident education and faculty practice.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    This full-time academic role combines clinical care, education, and surgical practice within a collaborative academic health system. The successful candidate will:

     

    + Provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecologic care, with an emphasis on gynecology and gynecologic surgery.

    + Staff resident gynecology services and actively participate in faculty practice.

    + Collaborate with other faculty to support the division’s clinical, educational, and academic missions.

    + Deliver patient-centered, high-quality care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.

    + Contribute to the teaching and mentorship of medical students and residents in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

     

    This position offers an exceptional opportunity to lead, innovate, and expand the impact of general obstetrics and gynecology within a nationally recognized academic health system.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.

    + Completion of an approved residency training program in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

    + Texas medical license (or eligibility for licensure).

    + Board certification in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG or equivalent).

    + Candidates must pass the ABOG Qualifying (written) Examination before starting and plan to sit for and pass the Certifying (oral) Examination within 1-3 years of starting.

    + Federally-issued DEA License

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    + Five years of clinical experience.

    + Prior academic experience in resident and medical student education.

    SALARY:

    Commensurate with experience.
