The Division of Endocrinology at Boston Children’s Hospital is one of the most accomplished pediatric endocrinology programs in the world. The New Balance Foundation Obesity Prevention Center, part of the Endocrinology Division, seeks a Clinical Research Assistant to join the lab of Dr. Belinda Lennerz working on a study that focuses on neurocognitive functioning and risk in children newly diagnosed with T1D. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational, communication, time management, and computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and will have experience and/or interest in diabetes. Spanish-speaking will be an asset. This is an excellent career opportunity to learn, grow, and contribute in an academic research setting.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Consents and enrolls patients for research studies by providing them and their families with detailed information about the study and obtaining informed consent.
+ Responsible for thoroughly understanding and adhering to all relevant policies and procedures, while addressing any inquiries that arise.
+ Reviews clinical information diligently to identify patients who meet the study's inclusion criteria and coordinates necessary follow-up visits.
+ Serves as a key liaison to families and patients involved in research studies, both onsite and offsite, guiding them through each phase and addressing their concerns.
+ Troubleshoots and resolves any issues that may arise during the study, ensuring a smooth research process.
+ Coordinates and prepares all necessary documentation needed for Institutional Review Board (IRB) submissions and tracks the progress from submission to approval.
+ Assists in the development of supportive study documents, including informed consent forms, monitoring templates, and training materials, and compiles enrollment information as needed.
+ May participate in the preparation of manuscripts and reports for academic journals, and help train and orient newly hired study personnel, ensuring consistency in data collection and informed consent procedures.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
+ A Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Experience:
+ Spanish fluency would be preferred.
+ Knowledge or interest in diabetes research.
