At Texas A&M University College of Veterinary Medicine & Biomedical Sciences (http://vetmed.tamu.edu/) we are looking for a team-oriented, experienced Veterinary Technician who would like to help veterinary students perfect their technical skills in the first three years of our veterinary curriculum. This person would work in a team of technicians under the supervision of dedicated veterinarians to train students in all of the technical skills necessary to become a successful veterinarian.

Minimum Qualifications
+ Veterinary Technician II: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience AND two years of technical experience in veterinary medicine
+ Veterinary Technician III: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science, a related area, or equivalent combination of education and experience AND four years of technical experience in veterinary medicine
The well-qualified candidate will also possess
+ Experience involving student instruction and/or mentorship
+ Experience teaching or in a learning environment
+ Experience in a managerial role and/or lead tech role
+ Experience in a veterinary medical hospital setting
+ Graduate of an AVMA approved veterinary technician program
+ Certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician
+ Certification as a Veterinary Technician Specialist (VTS) in Anesthesia, Internal Medicine, or Emergency / Critical Care
+ Working knowledge of veterinary equipment used within a veterinary hospital
What you need to know
Work Schedule/Location: Located at the College of Veterinary Medicine in College Station, TX, this position has a typical schedule of Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.
Salary: Compensation and classification are based on the analyses of the above qualifications during the recruitment process. Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience.
+ Veterinary Technician II: starting at $20.04/hour
+ Veterinary Technician III: starting at $21.33/hour

Some Responsibilities include:
+ Clinical and Instructional: Provide clinical support and instruction in anesthesia, surgery, and intensive care, while maintaining accurate medical records and preparing clinical pathology samples. Educate students in various veterinary techniques, including suture, diagnostic skills, and anesthesia protocols, and effectively cross-train between large and small animal hospitals.
+ Equipment: Ensure the availability and proper functioning of equipment for patient and student safety, maintain and operate laboratory and monitoring equipment, and manage inventory control and maintenance of hospital capital equipment.
+ Monitor and Record Data: Instruct and assist students in maintaining accurate patient anesthesia and medical records, ensure proper documentation and accounting of charges and controlled substances, and help organize and maintain the Clinical Skills Laboratory scheduling system.
+ Training and Certification: Remains current with safety classes, rabies prophylaxis, and Licensure Radiation/MRI safety Infection Control Aseptic Technique Rabies prophylaxis. Maintains certification or licensure where appropriate and demonstrates the basic skills of a Veterinary Technician II.
+ Maintain Service Area: Maintain a clean and organized service area by restocking supplies, sterilizing items, and ensuring infectious disease control, while performing other assigned duties as needed.
