The Boeing Company is currently seeking a **Software Engineering Manager** to support our **Starliner Software Team** located in **Houston, Texas.** This position will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) Software Engineering organization.

As a Software Engineering Manager, you will play a pivotal role in leading a group of software engineers that are responsible for developing and maintaining the training systems, mission systems applications, and trainer labs on the Starliner program. The Software Manager is responsible for the development and maintenance of crew training simulations and displays, providing full life-cycle support and maintenance for training simulation software and associated hardware labs. Additionally, the manager is involved in new business development and proposals, including research and development projects and major program estimations for future software initiatives. The Software Manager leads teams of employees engaged in engineering and technical activities within Software Engineering. This role includes developing and executing project and process plans, implementing policies and procedures, and setting operational goals. The manager acquires resources for projects, provides technical oversight of suppliers, and drives process improvements. Building and maintaining relationships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and team members is essential. The Software Manager also provides oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes while managing, developing, and motivating employees.
Position Responsibilities:
+ Leading the team in the full software development lifecycle
+ Providing oversight and approval of technical approaches, products, and processes
+ Managing, developing, and motivating employees and modeling the Boeing Behaviors
+ Leading the team using advanced agile framework methodologies
+ Developing and executing plans in accordance with organizational processes and procedures
+ Developing estimates to support contract proposal activities for new human exploration endeavors
+ Interfacing with both internal project management customers as well as the NASA customer
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/ Experience):
+ 10+ years of experience in Software Engineering
+ 5+ years of experience in an engineering leadership role
+ 5+ years of experience with mission/safety-critical software development
+ 3+ years of experience in hardware and software integration
+ Experience with NASA and the human space programs
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
+ Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science.
+ Experience championing safety and quality within an organization
+ Experience leading high performing Agile teams
+ Experience leading software estimates for technical complexity, cost, and schedule
+ Experience leading contract management of technical suppliers
+ Experience cultivating leadership within the software organization leading, mentoring, and engaging individuals and teams
+ Experience implementing modern DevSecOps techniques and tools
+ Experience in communicating with all levels of management, customers, and partners
+ Experience in crew training simulation software and associated hardware labs

Pay is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
Summary pay range for Manager Level: $141,950 - $192,050
