    The Commercial Flight Controls Division, headquartered in beautiful Ogden, Utah, is a global leader in aerospace flight controls. We are the preferred supplier of flight control solutions for the commercial, regional, business jet and advanced air mobility marketplace by offering a premier customer experience with superior engineered products that exceed our customer and regulatory requirements.

     

    We’ve broken ground with more-electric technology and electromechanical flight control systems. Looking ahead we’re further improving flight control actuation for traditional and advanced air mobility (AAM) aircraft with new technologies and manufacturing advancements.

    Position Summary

    The Procurement Manager provides leadership for site-level Supply Chain and Materials Management activities, including materials planning, scheduling, inventory and asset control, cash flow management, information flow, and coordination from customer order through procurement to delivery. This role works across functions — suppliers, business unit managers, production planners, purchasing, IT, shipping/receiving and inventory — and has matrix management responsibilities. The Purchasing Manager directly leads Purchasing and Supplier Quality functions and will have direct reports.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead and manage all procurement and materials management activities: supplier selection, evaluation, certification and reduction, order placement, supplier follow-up, price negotiation and compliance with governmental procurement regulations.

    + Directly manage Purchasing and Supplier Quality teams; hire, coach, develop and evaluate direct reports.

    + Own Production Planning Department MRP activities to support sales objectives and maintain 100% on-time customer deliveries.

    + Maintain accountability for site/division materials metrics and Standards of Performance.

    + Oversee MRP database ownership and data integrity through matrixed relationships; drive high degree of accuracy and ownership of planning data.

    + Define, recommend and implement automated systems and process improvements to plan and track material flow (from customer order through procurement to delivery) in support of supply chain strategy.

    + Ensure material management policies align with Division inventory control objectives.

    + Facilitate corporate purchasing and materials initiatives (common part numbers, supplier-managed inventory, consolidated purchasing agreements, supplier reduction, supplier quality certifications).

    + Advise on supplier-managed inventory and supplier-based contract structures with customers.

    + Support internal and external audits relating to planning, procurement and inventory control functions.

    + Prepare and manage the department budget within established guidelines and lead cost-reduction programs across procurement-to-delivery processes.

    + Promote and implement Lean principles, Kanban and other materials requirement planning techniques; support cellular manufacturing and JIT/MRP II practices.

    + Perform technical maintenance on a variety of laboratory equipment as required by site operations.

    + Foster a culture of continuous improvement and professional development for materials team members; communicate and enforce company policies and procedures.

    Qualifications

    + Minimum 6 years of progressive purchasing/materials management experience in a high-volume, world-class manufacturing environment.

    + Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering, Materials Management or related field required. Certification in materials management and quality preferred.

    + Experience with modern materials management systems and practices, including supply chain management, cash flow and asset management, JIT, MRPII, MRP, Kanban. APICS/CPM certification preferred.

    + Demonstrated experience managing supplier relationships, supplier certification programs and government procurement compliance.

    + Strong analytical and technical aptitude to evaluate business practices and identify/implement automation opportunities.

    + Proven ability to manage budgets and deliver cost reduction programs.

    + Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills; effective at cross-functional and supplier-facing interactions.

    + Proficient with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and familiarity with enterprise planning systems.
