    Responsibilities

    Responsibilities:

    As a Cook at Elderwood, you will:

    + Review menus and production sheets to determine food quantities needed for regular, mechanically altered, and special diets.

    + Prepare and cook assigned food items according to recipes and guidelines.

    + Test cooked foods by tasting and smelling samples to ensure quality.

    + Maintain safety and sanitation standards throughout food preparation and production.

    + Supervise food being cooked and ensure proper holding/serving temperatures.

    + Assist with preparation and distribution of foodstuffs.

    + Maintain cleanliness and proper upkeep of kitchen equipment and work areas.

    Qualifications

    Qualifications:

    + Minimum 18 years of age required; High School diploma or equivalent preferred

    + Previous food preparation experience required

    + Ability to understand and organize food preparation activities

    + Ability to carry out cooking tasks safely and efficiently

    + Knowledge of food preparation and production processes

    + Pride in quality of food and service

    + Strong personal cleanliness and hygiene standards

    + Respect for residents’ privacy, dignity, and rights

     

    This position requires regular interaction with residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors. In order to ensure a safe work environment for residents, coworkers, visitors, and/or supervisors of the Company, and to permit unfettered communication between the employee and those residents, coworkers, visitors, and supervisors, this position requires that the employee be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language at an intermediate or more advanced level.
