This position is eligible for annual incentive pay and has the opportunity for continued salary growth. If you are hired at American Water your base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as market, geography, skills, education and/or experience. American Water is also proud to offer employees learning opportunities and work experiences to grow professionally! _ *Primary Role*_ To proactively identify and secure suitable new business, lead the deal structuring and bid management process in the allocated territory, and support the Director of Business Developer in developing, updating and implementing the Regional business development plan to secure profitable and sustainable business growth in line with the company's business plan targets and strategy. _*Key Accountabilities*_ * Build the business development pipeline for northern New Jersey and target opportunities to help maintain a steady flow of projects and close targets within plan timescales. Identify, qualify and prioritize leads through the use of appropriate tools, local market data and active targeted prospecting. (30%) * Develop, shape and track potential opportunities and match service and product offerings with customer needs. Identify creative approaches to developing and structuring new opportunities which accurately reflect client needs and support business plan priorities. Manage relationships to move opportunities through the business development pipeline, using a variety of tactics and touchpoints. (30%) * Create market awareness and interest in New Jersey American Water, and develop and maintain New Jersey American Water brand image with the key industry stakeholders within the designated territory. Attend events, meetings, industry functions to enhance target opportunity awareness of New Jersey American Water. (20%) * Support development of the bid strategy, deal structuring, project financing and credit assessment of opportunities and champion projects through the Division/Regional/Corporate investment appraisal process. Identify, secure and manage cross functional and Regional resources to help evaluate, risk assess, develop and structure bids. (10%) * Ensure effective and timely documentation in the relevant databases on opportunity development, from the qualification process through the development of the project, to bid/contract negotiation.
