The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst I. This position is within our Technical Services Bureau. The successful incumbent will be stationed at our Headquarters office situated adjacent to the Boise Greenbelt, the MK Nature Center, and Kristin Armstrong Municipal Park in Boise.

Responsibilities:
+ Spatial Data Management
o Manage statewide authoritative IDFG spatial datasets within data governance guidelines.
o Maintain up-to-date metadata aligned with state and federal standards.
o Create cartographic products, graphs, and other visualizations for a variety of audiences.
+ Data Management and Data Requests
o Assist with integrating field-collected biological data into GIS databases.
o Clean, standardize, and validate data for accuracy and consistency.
o Provide GIS support for agency led technical assistance.
+ Collaboration and Communication
o Effectively and efficiently work with IDFG staff and data partners to fulfill data requests for external and internal stakeholders.
o Participate within interdisciplinary project teams to complete GIS and data related products.
+ Documentation and Reporting
o Maintain proper documentation of geospatial analyses and methodologies.
o Assist in preparing technical reports, presentations, and map packages for internal and external stakeholders.
+ Database and Software Use
o Utilize ESRI ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, and other GIS software/tools to manage spatial data.
o Support geodatabase development and maintenance (e.g., feature classes, domains, topology rules).
o Knowledge of SQL Server, relational databases, and documenting data models.
Minimum Qualifications: (All qualifications listed below are required. To be considered for this position, applicants must meet the minimum experience and/or education standards as outlined in each of the typical qualification guidelines. + Good knowledge of GIS principles, databases, data models, web and mobile GIS concepts, and operation of GIS software (Typically gained by at least one year of work experience in the GIS-related field and GIS-related college coursework OR successful completion of a college degree in GIS or a closely related field.)
+ Experience: performing geospatial data processing and quality control, cartography, Interpreting and using maps and map projections, creating metadata (Typically gained by at least one year of experience in a GIS or closely related field.)
The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented and motivated early-career GIS professional with a strong foundation in geographic information systems with a background in and passion for biological and environmental science. They should possess a working knowledge of GIS software (particularly the ESRI suite) and relational databases plus experience performing GIS data management. Strong communication and collaboration skills will enable them to work effectively with their internal and external stakeholders. This candidate should be committed to continuous improvement, receptive to feedback, and able to follow data standards and procedures aligned with Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) principles.
