In this role, you’ll oversee a $150M technology budget and lead a team of approximately 300 employees and contractors, driving the technology strategy for our Commercial Banking business. You’ll be at the helm of once-in-a-generation transformation programs that will redefine how we serve our clients and operate internally. Relocation to Buffalo, NY is required as this is a hybrid role. Primary Responsibilities: Lead Strategic Technology Vision: + Define and execute the roadmap for Commercial Banking technology, aligning with enterprise goals and delivering scalable, client-centric solutions. Spearhead a portfolio of transformative programs, including: + **Commercial Lending:** + Servicing Modernization – Reimagining the loan servicing experience for customers and employees. + Loan Documentation Engine Upgrade – Enhancing automation and accuracy in documentation workflows. + Sales Enablement RFPs – Evaluating replacements for tools like Seismic to improve sales content delivery. + Salesforce Optimization – Driving adoption and maximizing CRM capabilities across the division. + **Commercial Servicing:** + Servicing Modernization – Replacing legacy accounting and collateral systems to enable straight-through processing. + Equipment Finance Modernization – Upgrading and consolidating core leasing systems, organizational structures, and processes. + **Commercial Treasury:** + CPLS Modernization – Overhauling positive pay, onboarding, commercial card rebates, and pricing tools. + Treasury Center Enhancements – Expanding capabilities to support evolving client needs. **Digital Account Opening for Commercial** : + Integrating platforms like Dash and ServiceNow to streamline onboarding. Own Operational Excellence: + Oversee financial performance, compliance, risk management, and talent development for your teams. Ensure your division operates efficiently, ethically, and in alignment with regulatory standards. Drive Innovation & Change: + Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies. Champion large-scale transformation initiatives and introduce cutting-edge solutions that enhance customer experience and operational agility. Vendor & Product Leadership: + Manage strategic vendor relationships and lead product evaluations to ensure optimal technology investments. Deliver high-quality outcomes within budget and resource constraints. Inspire and Empower Teams: + Lead a large, diverse team of technologists across multiple locations. Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement. Risk & Compliance Stewardship: + Design and maintain robust internal controls. Proactively identify and escalate risk-related issues, ensuring your division aligns with the Bank’s risk appetite and regulatory expectations. Education and Experience Required: + Minimum of Associates’ degree and 15 years’ proven and progressive technology, management and/or large program leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 17 years’ higher education and/or work experience, including a minimum of 15 years’ technology, management and/or large program leadership experience + Minimum of 6 years’ managerial experience + Strategic thinker with a deep understanding of Commercial Banking operations and terminology. + Prior experience working on multiple projects of a complex nature + Proven track record of leading enterprise transformation, and change initiatives. + Complete understanding of the system development life cycle + Prior experience encouraging team work and serving as role model when leading and directing others + Experience understanding technical, business and operational impacts of a project or problem + Experience leading large numbers of employees (200+) on multiple teams often in different geographic locations and time zones + Expertise in presenting to senior management Education and Experience Preferred: + Master’s degree + Understanding of applications supported with an advanced knowledge of interfacing/integrated applications + Experience with skills, application(s) and functions of the technology area of ownership + Ability to articulate and explain the Bank’s business plan and strategic objectives with the ability to shape direction + Mastered knowledge and focus of the entire system and support projects outside of normal BAU (business as usual) + Understanding of business(es) supported and its’ terminology + Excellent problem-solving skills to assist in issue resolution M&T Bank is committed to fair, competitive, and market-informed pay for our employees. The pay range for this position is $157,495.91 - $292,492.42 Annual (USD). The successful candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, and experience will inform their specific compensation.
