What you'll do
The director is responsible for the oversight of case management and logistics activities for the Bassett Healthcare Network hospitals, including oversight for Bassett Healthcare Network interpreter services and patient transportation. The director plans for and secures financial and human resources for the department. Oversees and works with the Director of Utilization Management to support and implement the goals of the utilization management program. Maintains oversight responsibility for the discharge planning of all patients. Management of network staffing models and deployment strategies for the efficient use of the float pool to efficiently meet fluctuating patient volumes and acuity levels across the network. Works with the Director of Care Coordination and Chief Nursing Officers to ensure seamless transitions across the continuum of care. Acts as the healthcare liaison with the referral agencies and long-term care facilities to assure continuity of care. Collaborates with Risk Management and Quality Improvement with process improvements, screening investigation and problem solving as needed. Responsible for education on the implementation of clinical protocols. Participates in value-based initiatives as needed. Directs quality improvement activities and oversees the competencies within the department.
• Develops and maintains a departmental structure, operating procedures and staffing to meet demands for Case Management Services and Logistics.• Develops and monitors operational procedures and performance standards which ensure safe, effective and efficient daily operations.• Develops and monitors departmental policies and protocols which meet the needs for provision of Case Management and Logistics services.• Develops strategies to ensure effective and efficient departmental performance and service delivery across all network hospitals.• Monitors and reports division performance related to established objectives and goals.• Develops a staffing structure which supports BHN departmental objectives.• Develops staffing and scheduling to meet demands for operational services.• Provides direction to ensure appropriate use of staffing resources.• Develops and implements plans for staff development, orientation and professional growth.• Completes annual performance appraisals for all staff within established timeframes.• Directs and participates in staff recruitment, interview process and selection.• Establishes and maintains communication which facilitates effective operations.• Provides timely and effective communications with department staff to maintain awareness of important corporate, division and departmental information.• Schedules and directs staff meetings on a regular basis.• Makes use of staff feedback and insight to improve services.• Participates in multidisciplinary committee work groups and teams to support and facilitate initiatives and programs for service improvement.• Financial resource management• Develops and implements annual operational budget and capital budgets.• Monitors and reports budgetary variances and emergency capital needs.• Reallocates, prioritizes and, when indicated, recommends modifications to established budgetary plans.• Develops and implements expense control measures to ensure financial objectives.• Works to develop and maintain revenue generating opportunities.• Establishes and maintains effective performance improvement processes within the department.• Acts on identified areas for performance improvement by implementing plans and evaluating effectiveness of improvement measures.• Tracks and reports performance improvement activities as appropriate and/or required by institutional guidelines.• Ensures compliance with procedures, policies and regulatory requirements. Implements departmental policy.• Ensures compliance with all regulatory agency requirements.• Ensures compliance with division and institutional policies.• Proactively identifies safety-related issues, addresses identified issues and institutes procedures which minimize risks to patients and staff.• Reports and acts to correct compliance and risk related issues to SVP, Chief Nursing Executive.• Development of Bassett Network/System Thinking - A leader who thinks globally and adopts philosophy of continuous improvement for Bassett processes/systems and the Bassett Network.• Develops working relationships with partners throughout the Bassett Network to effect positive results.• Regularly assesses opportunities to enhance system(s) performance.
• Develops action plans and completes them to improve patient and employee satisfaction.• Connects with counter parts at affiliate sites to actualize potential for adoption of best practices and standardization.• As appropriate, takes action to create a better experience for patients traversing the continuum of care.• Measures deployment of resources and develops plans to optimize ROI.• Performs other duties as assigned.• Strategic staffing: Develop and implement staffing models and deployment strategies for the float pool to efficiently meet fluctuating patient volumes and acuity levels across the network.• Scheduling: Oversee the float pool schedule, balancing staff needs with resource allocation to ensure 24/7 coverage.• System optimization: Lead the analysis and implementation of staffing and scheduling systems to improve efficiency and track staffing trends.• Policy and procedure: Ensure that all float pool operations adhere to hospital policies, as well as state and federal regulations.• Collaboration: Partner with nurse managers, nursing directors, and other leaders across the network to address staffing needs and standardize operations
What we need from you
Education:
+ 4 Year/Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, required
+ Master's Degree must be obtained within 3 years from date of hire (Nursing, Social Work, or related Healthcare Field, required
Experience:
+ At least 5 years of Management level experience in nursing or social work, required
+ 10 years of Management level experience will waive Master's degree requirement
+ At least 5 years of experience in Case Management, discharge planning, and/or Utilization Management
Licensure/Certifications:
+ Registered Nurse or LMSW or eligible to obtain within 3 months from date of hire, required
+ CMA or ACMA must be obtained within 18 months from date of hire, preferred
+ PRI Screen Certification must be obtained within 6 months from date of hire, required

Physical Requirements:
+ Light Work - Exerting up to 20 lbs of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of forces greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work.

Pay Transparency
Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards. The above compensation range represents a good faith belief of the compensation range by Bassett Healthcare Network, and its entities and affiliates, at the time of this posting or advertisement.
Pay Range Minimum:
USD $127,936.66/Yr.
Pay Range Maximum:
USD $191,904.99/Yr.
