Description We are looking for a meticulous Staff Accountant to join our team on a long-term contract basis in New York, New York. In this dynamic role, you will handle a blend of day-to-day accounting tasks and strategic financial responsibilities, ensuring accurate reporting and providing valuable insights to support decision-making. This position is ideal for a proactive individual who thrives in a fast-paced environment and enjoys contributing to both transactional and analytical aspects of accounting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring all transactions are accurately recorded in the general ledger.

• Oversee billing operations, payroll processing, and account reconciliations to maintain up-to-date financial records.

• Perform bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.

• Assist with corporate tax filings, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.

• Develop and maintain budgets, providing forecasts and financial models to support strategic planning.

• Conduct profitability analyses to evaluate the financial performance of business initiatives.

• Collaborate with leadership to deliver clear financial reporting and insights for decision-making.

• Support month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely completion and compliance.

• Identify opportunities to enhance processes and improve overall financial efficiency. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate tax filings, including sales tax and corporate tax returns.

• Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting and journal entry preparation.

• Proficiency in handling billing, payroll, and account reconciliation tasks.

• Expertise in bank reconciliations and resolving discrepancies.

• Demonstrated ability to create budgets and forecasts, applying financial modeling techniques.

• Experience conducting profitability analyses to support business decisions.

• Solid understanding of month-end and year-end close processes.

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
