Summary Statement
Join the Boise WaterShed Education Center team in this Tuesday–Saturday, 4-month role, where you’ll help create a welcoming atmosphere and ensure every visitor enjoys a positive and memorable experience while learning about water, sustainability, and our community’s connection to the environment
Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Experience working with the general public or children.
Licensing And Other Requirements
First aid and CPR certification or the ability to obtain within six months of hire date.
Special Requirements
Applicants must be able to pass:
City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation.
Essential Functions
Provides excellent customer service while greeting and interacting with the public.
Conducts guided tours of the exhibit hall for the public and K-12 school groups.
Performs a variety of administrative functions including scheduling group visits, answering phones, compiling staff schedules and tracking data.
Supports education coordinators with a variety of tasks, including room set up and clean up, inventorying and restocking of supplies and compiling educational materials. Supports volunteer and teen program efforts.
Oversees and monitors activities to ensure a safe environment for patrons and staff. Opens and closes building. Reports issues.
Performs light janitorial tasks.
Performs other duties as assigned. Nothing in this job description restricts management's right to assign or reassign duties and responsibilities to this position at any time.
Requirements
Additional Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Knowledge of:; customer service best practices; office practices and procedures; and computers and related programs
Ability to:; communicate effectively verbally, engage an audience, and maintain good working relations with clients of all ages; learn environmental education techniques to teach about Boise's water and climate action; compile and present educational program material; interact with the public and co-workers in a friendly and professional manner; understand and comply with all rules, policies and regulations; maintain prompt and regular attendance;; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without a reasonable accommodation.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
One year of experience in customer service or education.
Bilingual English/Spanish oral proficiency.

This position works: This position works Tuesdays - Saturdays
19-Hour Temporary
All temporary part-time employees working less than an average of 19-hours per week are not currently eligible for benefits.
4-Month Temporary
All 4-month temporary employees working an average of 40-hours per week will accrue personal leave which can be used during employment.
8-Month Seasonal
In addition to accruing personal leave, anyone in an 8-month seasonal position working over an average of 30-hours per week is eligible for medical coverage.
9-Month Temporary
In addition to personal leave accrual and medical coverage, a position that is classified as a 9-month temporary is eligible for PERSI retirement benefits.
