    JOB SUMMARY

    The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) supports patient care within the Health Department of the Muckleshoot Indian Tribe by performing clinical and administrative tasks in a fast-paced medical clinic setting. This position works under the supervision of registered nurses, nurse practitioners, or physicians to deliver safe and timely healthcare services. The LPN plays a critical role in triaging patient concerns, preparing patients for exams, and maintaining organized and clean workspaces. The role also includes performing direct care procedures such as administering medications, taking vitals, and conducting phlebotomy. This position requires a compassionate, adaptable individual with strong communication and organizational skills. The LPN also steps into Medical Assistant duties as needed to support overall clinic operations and ensure quality care for community members.

    MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    + Takes triage calls from patients and relays accurate, relevant medical information to providers.

    + Prepares patients for exams by obtaining vital signs and updating health records.

    + Provides instructions and education on medical procedures and follow-up care.

    + Assists with prescription refill requests and medication prior authorizations.

    + Documents all patient care activities promptly and accurately.

    + Performs phlebotomy and processes specimens for transport.

    + Supports nursing inbox requests and manages medication inventory.

    + Cleans and restocks exam rooms between patient visits.

    + Schedules appointments, referrals, lab work, and imaging.

    + Communicates with hospitals, pharmacies, and outside providers as needed.

    + Assists with provider home visits and care in alternate clinic settings.

    + Provides backup support for front and back office operations.

    + Act as Monitors for Medical Assistants in the 5 min 5S program and other jobs as designated.

    + Performs wound care, injections, and basic nursing treatments.

    + Maintains confidentiality and patient privacy at all times.

    + Because of the Tribe's commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.

    EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION

    Required:

    + High School Diploma or equivalent.

    + Graduate of an accredited practical nursing program.

    + At least three years of experience as an LPN in a clinic, primary care, or similar setting.

    + At least three years of experience in a medical office with familiarity in terminology and workflow.

    + Obtain/maintain licensure in WA state for a LPN license.

    Preferred:

    + Previous experience in ambulatory/tribal clinic settings

    + Experience with electronic medical records including RPMS and EPIC

    + Knowledge of insurance authorization processes

    + General knowledge of clinical workflows

    + Understanding of confidentiality and HIPAA standards

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed primarily in a clinical setting. Employees in this role are frequently required to stand or walk for extended periods of time. Duties may include assisting with patient transfers and occasionally lifting or moving equipment or supplies up to 40 pounds. Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are necessary for tasks such as phlebotomy, administering injections, and working with computers. Visual and auditory acuity is required for patient assessment and communication. The role also requires the ability to bend, twist, reach, and occasionally kneel or crouch when preparing exam rooms or assisting patients. The work environment may be moderately noisy and fast-paced at times.
