Salary Range: Salary is competitive and will be commensurate with experience.

    Position Summary/Description:

The School of Social Work ( SSW ) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill invites applications for two (2) tenure-track faculty positions (nine-month appointments) with primary expertise in aging, older adults, long-term care, and related health and health disparities.

Consistent with the School’s mission to advance equity, transform systems, and improve lives, we seek scholars whose research addresses the experiences of older adults and the policies, programs, and services that shape their lives. Competitive applicants will demonstrate a strong record, or clear potential, for externally funded research, peer-reviewed publication, and excellence in teaching.

Successful candidates will develop and maintain an independent, externally funded research agenda focused on aging, older adults, long-term care, and related health and disparities while contributing to the School’s MSW and PhD programs. The standard tenure-track teaching load is four courses per academic year, with opportunities for course buy-outs based on research funding, and faculty are expected to engage fully in research, teaching, and service to the School, University, profession, and community. This position has a standard distribution of effort that includes 67% teaching and instruction, 16.5% research, and 16.5% service and community engagement.

The faculty members’ academic home will be the School of Social Work, with extensive opportunities to collaborate across disciplines including but not limited to public health, medicine, nursing, psychology, data science, and policy. One or both positions may be affiliated with the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research Program on Aging, Chronic Illness, and Long-term Care, and the national Center for Excellence in Assisted Living, including in a leadership capacity. We are especially interested in candidates who bring interdisciplinary or community-engaged perspectives that inform innovative interventions, service delivery models, or policy solutions for older adults. Candidates with exceptional qualifications may have access to designated research funds.
