    SUMMARY

    SUNY Brockport is accepting applications for an Assistant Director of Student Conduct. Reporting to the Associate Director of Student Conduct, the Assistant Director of Student Conduct will assist with the overall day-to-day management of the University’s student conduct system and lead efforts to implement an educational process to promote community standards, ensuring due process and fundamental fairness to all individuals and organizations involved. The Assistant Director accomplishes this through data-driven assessment, training, community outreach, daily management of operations of the student conduct system, processing on- and off-campus violations, sanctioning and educational efforts. This position is committed to equity, inclusivity, access as well as implementing restorative practices through the SUNY Brockport Community.

    JOB FUNCTIONS

    Essential Functions:

    Case Management

     

    + Manages conduct cases and incident reports in a timely manner, including assigning cases to appropriate staff members.

    + Manages assigned conduct cases and incident reports from on and off campus as assigned by the appropriate staff.

    + Investigates, adjudicates, and processes student conduct cases, consistent with the Code of Student Conduct, Title IX Grievance Policy, and in compliance with local, state, and federal laws.

    + Partners with Title IX office, serving as a co-investigator when needed, draft investigative reports, and when serving as hearing officer, make findings of relevance, and draft decisions.

    + Identifies appropriate sanctions that will allow for further growth of the students involved with conduct.

    + Maintains accurate and complete records in student conduct database software, Maxient.

     

    Program Management and Evaluation

     

    + Creates and promotes content of marketing materials, including the development and maintenance of content.

    + Maintains, assesses, and creates sanctioning workshop presentations and materials.

    + Collaborates with campus partners by participating in educational efforts surrounding conflict resolution and other topics influenced by campus policy and trends in student behavior.

    + In conjunction with the Director, develops and maintains assessment efforts for programs and services.

    + In conjunction with the Director, participates in code of conduct policy review.

     

    Supervision and Training

     

    + Assists with training and indirect supervision of Resident Directors and Graduate Assistants, as it pertains to the Student Conduct office.

    + Provides support and mentoring to RDs and RAs.

    Non-Essential Functions:

    Department Engagement

     

    + Supports the overall operation of Student Conduct/Residence Life Learning Communities and contributes to the accomplishment of its mission and goals by performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Conduct.

    + Participates as a member of the University community by serving on various committees and task forces.

    REQUIREMENTS

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, College Student Personnel, education, or a related field by time of appointment from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized college or university

    + Minimum of two years of full-time professional experience in higher education

    + Ability to mediate and resolve interpersonal conflicts

    + Strong organizational skills, including ability to prioritize and work in environment with competing priorities

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    + Evidence of commitment to creating an inclusive environment

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Certified Title IX investigator or equivalent

    + Experience developing and measuring student learning programmatic outcomes

    + Proven collaboration with law enforcement/security, counseling, and health

    + Experience with crisis management

    ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

    Work Schedule:

    37.5 hours/week: Monday-Friday, 8 am-4 pm, occasional nights and weekends

    Retirement

    + NYS Employees' Retirement System (ERS) and NYS Teachers' Retirement System (TRS) - Defined benefit plans; benefits are based on best Final Average Salary and years of service.

    + SUNY Optional Retirement Plan (ORP) - Defined contribution plan; benefits are based on the employer and employee contributions and the success of the investments. Employer contribution is 8% of salary for first seven years of service, 10% thereafter.

     

    Membership for full-time and permanent employees is mandatory. All full-time employees are eligible to elect ERS or the ORP; employees in teaching, librarian, or coach (including assistant) titles are also eligible for TRS and may choose any of the three plans.
