    Contract-to-Hire | 6-Month Term

    Position Overview

    The Controller will play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the Community Renewal Team. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position is responsible for managing all financial reporting, treasury functions, and software systems. The ideal candidate will bring over 10 years of accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a leadership role within a nonprofit organization.

    Key Responsibilities

    + Partner with the CFO to lead financial planning, budgeting, and cost management strategies.

    + Develop and maintain annual and multi-year budgets, and provide strategic financial insights.

    + Oversee the Finance team’s operations including reporting, revenue analysis, audits, tax filings, and cash forecasting.

    + Ensure compliance with federal and state tax regulations.

    + Manage relationships with banks, auditors, and financial software vendors.

    + Prepare and review flash reports, finance committee materials, and year-end financial statements.

    + Act as Senior Accountant for Hartford Assisted Living Limited Partnership (HALLP).

    + Review monthly program reports and income statements.

    + Generate ad hoc reports for executive leadership as needed.

    Required Skills & Experience

    + Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred.

    + Experience: Minimum 8 years in accounting, with at least 4 years in a senior finance role. Nonprofit or public accounting experience strongly preferred.

    + Technical Skills: Proficiency in general ledger management, reconciliations, journal entries, financial reporting, and audit preparation.

    + Software: Advanced skills in MS Excel and Word; experience with Blackbaud, Financial Edge, and Boston Post.

    + Knowledge: Familiarity with GAAP and Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) is a plus.

    + Soft Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and customer service abilities.

    Pay and Benefits

    The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.42/hr.
