Internship Program Overview:

Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with a meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives.

Summary of Role:

The Facilities Mechanical Engineering team is accepting applications for a Mechanical Engineering Student to fill this role. This intern position will work with the Mechanical Engineering team to support system reliability, cost reductions and overall quality of the mechanical support group.

Essential Responsibilities include:

+ Utilize all Safety and Operational Risk Control procedures to coordinate work activities support GLOBALFOUNDRIES goal for zero safety accidents and production impacts

+ Assist in the development of effective Standard Operational Procedures (SOP’s) for assigned equipment and systems

+ Support Facilities Engineers to complete tasks required to maintain system reliability on mechanical systems and equipment. (Ex. Chillers, Boilers, Exhaust and Cleanroom support systems)

+ Support Facilities Engineers to complete projects required to support operational cost control initiatives. This will include working with outside agencies on various cost incentive programs

+ Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) program identify and correct operational issues before they impact production.

+ Engage with various stakeholders to gather technical specifications and update various systems accordingly.

+ Support additional initiatives as required to support the operations of the Fab 8 facility.

Other Responsibilities:

+ Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

Required Qualifications:

+ Education – Actively pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.

+ Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal)

+ Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship.

Preferred Qualifications:

+ Prior related internship or co-op experience

+ Project management skills, i.e. the ability to innovate and execute on solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity.

+ Strong written and verbal communication skills

+ Strong planning & organizational skills
