Position Summary

The Journeyman Lineman is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical power systems, including overhead and underground transmission and distribution lines. This position plays a critical role in supporting utility and infrastructure projects safely, efficiently, and in alignment with Probst Electric’s high standards for quality and safety.

What You'll Do

+ Key Responsibilities

+ Construct, maintain, and repair overhead and underground electrical lines and equipment.

+ Install, replace, and maintain transformers, switches, conductors, insulators, and related system components.

+ String, sag, and connect wire; set poles, climb structures, and operate aerial lifts or bucket trucks as needed.

+ Adhere to Probst Electric and Quanta Services safety programs, as well as all OSHA, DOT, and client requirements.

+ Diagnose and resolve line outages, faults, and service interruptions.

+ Read and interpret blueprints, staking sheets, and line diagrams to complete projects accurately.

+ Operate digger derricks, cranes, pullers, tensioners, and other specialized equipment.

+ Mentor and assist Apprentice Linemen, promoting skill development and safety awareness.

+ Maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used.

+ Perform duties in a variety of field environments and weather conditions.

What You'll Bring

Qualifications

Required:

+ Journeyman Lineman Certificationfrom a recognized DOL or equivalent apprenticeship program.

+ Valid Class A CDL (or ability to obtain) with a clean driving record.

+ Experience in transmission, distribution, or substation line work.

+ Proven commitment to safety, teamwork, and quality workmanship.

+ Ability to climb, lift, and perform physically demanding tasks safely.

+ Willingness to travel and work extended hours as needed for project demands.

Preferred:

+ + Experience with energized (“hot line”) work using hot sticks or rubber glove methods.

+ Familiarity with underground systems and conduit installation.

+ Current OSHA 10/ET&D, First Aid/CPR, and other relevant safety certifications.

+ Previous experience with Probst Electric, Quanta Services, or other high-voltage contractors.
