Position: Project Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a Project Engineer you will be responsible for coordinating the planning, organizing, and completion of capital projects.

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

* Support and foster safety and environmental compliance

* Understand safe designs, safe work practices, and safe work environments

* Evaluate the performance of mechanical systems to determine the best option for replacement.

* Develop capital CFR documents for the capital approval process

* Implement capital projects on time and within budget

* Control project costs by developing bid packages, monitoring expenditures, and administering contracts

* Establish project schedules by studying specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements

* Responsible for construction oversight during implementation phases of on-site construction

* Partner with operations, E&I, and Mechanical Maintenance to understand all processes and how teams and individuals are involved and impacted at each step

What you will need to succeed:

* Bachelor\u2019s degree in science or engineering; mechanical or chemical engineering preferred

* Must have 5 years of experience in a project, operations, or maintenance engineering role

* Experience with SAP preferred

* Strong problem-solving and process-analysis skills to evaluate data and make decisions to drive process improvements through capital upgrades

* Possess effective communication skills to clearly convey project-related data to operations, maintenance, and management

* Proven track record of collaboration within cross-functional teams

* Work experience in the paper industry or similar industry preferred
