    ### Job Duties

    The Veterans Van Driver is responsible for providing safe and reliable transportation for local veterans to U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs medical centers and claims appointments as scheduled by either the VA Medical Centers or the VA Regional Office. Duties include completing required driver training, reviewing and following scheduled trip assignments, and operating either the dedicated Veterans Van or a County fleet vehicle. The driver conducts pre- and post-trip inspections, performs routine maintenance tasks such as topping off fluids and refueling, and reports any vehicle issues to the Veterans Service Officer. The role requires assisting passengers with entering and exiting the vehicle, properly securing seatbelts and wheelchairs, and ensuring passenger safety throughout transport. The driver maintains confidentiality of appointments and health information, uses GPS navigation as needed, and provides operational updates by phone before, during, and after trips. Additional responsibilities include cleaning the vehicle as needed, maintaining accurate trip records, and supporting a safe, respectful, and team-oriented environment while providing dependable service to veterans.

     

    ### Minimum Education Required

    High school diploma or equivalent, with prior responsible related work experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.

     

    ### Minimum Experience Required

    Previous work experience that shows the ability to safely drive and carry out the responsibilities of the job, and a valid Minnesota Class D driver’s license.
