    THE POSITION

    DESCRIPTION OF WORK

    As a Staff Psychiatrist, you will oversee intensive psychiatric treatment of mentally ill patients by utilizing a multi-disciplinary approach for the psychiatric management of acute, chronic, and geriatric emotionally ill persons. You will p erform competency evaluations, w rite orders for treatment and studies, make daily rounds, perform psychotherapy and counseling, and lead a team formulating treatment plans. This role requires effective communication to consult with disciplinary teams and patients, as well as a genuine desire to ensure individualized quality patient care. In addition, you will facilitate discharge planning and appropriate community follow-up, participate in hospital committees to enhance patient care, and ensure dignified and humane treatment of patients at all times .

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

    + Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week

    + Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Your schedule may change based on operational needs.

    + Overtime as needed

    + Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

    + Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $216,862.00 (before taxes).

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

    + Completion of a residency or training program in psychiatry which meets the certification requirements of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.

    Special Requirements:

    + You must be in p ossession of a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as issued by the State Board of Medical Education and Licensure, or the State Board of Osteopathic Examiners.

    Other Requirements:

    + PA residency requirement (https://www.employment.pa.gov/Additional%20Info/Pages/default.aspx) is currently waivedfor this title.

    + You must be able to perform essential job functions.

    Legal Requirements:

    + A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination and drug screening.

    + This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.

    + Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
