    Description

    Reports to the Supervisor of Facilities. Provides overall maintenance for the Mays Landing Campus with the ability to provide assistance at any Atlantic Cape location.

     

    Examples of Duties

     

    + Maintains, services and operates HVAC/refrigeration systems and respective controls

    + Works on utilities involving water, sewer, gas, electrical and mechanical systems

    + Conducts preventive and predictive maintenance and repairs of electrical and mechanical equipment and facilities

    + Establishes and conducts regular building maintenance inspections

    + Assures that overall facilities conditions are safe • Operates work control system to receive all emergency and services requests

    + Responds to work orders; repairs and maintains alarm systems, doors/windows and related hardware, fire suppression systems, boilers and associated delivery and support systems, and chemical treatment systems

    + Perform tasks generally assigned to or performed by crafts such as electrical, mechanical, carpentry, plumbing and masonry

    + Removes/controls snow and ice

    + Assists housekeeping and furniture/equipment setups/relocations when necessary

    + Provides basic customer service relations services

    + Meets, greets and directs students and campus visitors

    + Performs other duties as assigned

    Typical Qualifications

    Education and Licenses:

    • High school diploma or GED

    • Trade school training in electrical and/or HVAC, with certificates and licenses to substantiate qualifications

    Experience:

    • Four to seven years’ experience in HVAC and/or electrical trades with demonstrated performance in troubleshooting and repairs Competencies and Skills:

    • Ability to lift objects up to 50 pounds

    • N.J. Black Seal license or ability to attain such within one year of hire. Blue Seal license a plus

    • Training and demonstrated knowledge in safe work practices, including fire protection

    • Computer literacy

    • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints and electrical diagrams/schematics

     

    Supplemental Information

    Terms of Employment:

    • Must have a telephone, reliable transportation, and a valid N.J. driver's license.

    • Ability to work shift duty and 24-hour call-in service

    • This position may require flexible scheduling to include evenings and weekends and duties at any Atlantic Cape location.
