    COMPENSATION:

    Salary Range: $90,590.00 – $128,239.00/ Grade E

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    This position is responsible for leading a team which provides technical support regarding all aspects of Carborne software-based electronic train control and communication-based train control (CBTC) equipment. The incumbent will lead a team that provides engineering support to NYCT maintenance facilities with the objective of improving the performance and reliability of carborne electronic train control and CBTC equipment. The incumbent will coordinate activities to address performance and reliability issues regarding carborne electronic train control and CBTC equipment and the critical car interfaces, will assure that formal procedures for installation, maintenance, overhaul, repair and software upgrades of train control and CBTC equipment are established, maintained and updated as required, will investigate and analyze incident and equipment performance/operational data regarding carborne electronic train control and CBTC equipment and investigate solutions to availability/obsolescence issues. The incumbent will participate in various meetings, with other groups such as C&D (Construction and Development), CES (Central Electronic Shop), MOW (Maintenance of Way), SD (Service Delivery), Operating Initiatives & Project Coordination, etc. for carborne CBTC system and CBTC interface design, design review, testing, and deployment, for carborne CBTC and CBTC interface issues. The incumbent and team will provide reports and recommendations.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    + Ten (10) years of experience, of which four (4) years must be managerial or supervisory with

    + Degree Required: Baccalaureate

    + Major Field of Study: Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering Technology, Information Technology, or a satisfactory equivalent

    + Other: Electro/mechanical

    DESIRED SKILLS:

    + Ability to work in a team and lead a team

    + Practical knowledge of Carborne software and microprocessor train control systems

    + Practical knowledge of digital network communication systems

    + Knowledge of new and cutting-edge technologies related to heavy railcar engineering, transit vehicle systems and interfaces, and their interaction with wayside equipment

    + Thorough understanding of design, testing, troubleshooting, failure analysis, and corrective action relative to railcar software and control systems

    + Experience with the NYCT environment and wayside equipment

    + Experience in working closely with NYCT railcar maintenance and overhaul shops, support shops, equipment suppliers, other DOS divisions, and other NYCT departments

    + Knowledge of configuration control and management systems

    + Strong written and verbal communication skills
