    Northrop Grumman Space Systems - Launch Vehicles has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Systems Engineer for the Sentinel Program located in Chandler, AZ.

    Position Overview:

    The Staff Systems Engineer is expected to fully understand systems engineering processes and products, especially on the left side of the Systems Engineering V model, and more importantly able to mentor and teach junior engineers. The Staff Systems Engineer is expected to work independently after receiving high level assignments from the SEIT PM or Lead Systems Engineer, which may include leading multi-disciplinary teams in completing complex tasking.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Mentor and train the junior Systems Engineers on the program in key system activities and products (requirements decomposition and derivation; writing and capturing requirements in DOORS/CAMEO; planning verification of each requirement; interaction with other disciplines in understanding if a requirement is achievable or not; capture of interface requirements, etc.)

    + Responsible for the development, decomposition, refinement and documentation of system, subsystem and component requirements and capabilities to support the Sentinel program. This includes ensuring the system architecture is captured in CAMEO and corresponding requirements are captured in DOORS (and that the two are consistent).

    + The Sentinel Staff Systems Engineer is directly responsible for working on the overall System-level development effort including integration of subsystem elements into the overall System-level design architecture and related formal deliverables to the customer

    + The Sentinel Staff Systems Engineer is directly responsible for working the overall System-level end to end performance assessments of the Sentinel system and identifying and leading the resolution of systems performance gaps relative to stakeholder requirements.

    + Lead and collaborate with systems engineers, other disciplines, suppliers, management and the customer to ensure timely development and delivery of the Sentinel deliverables

    + Lead ad-hoc teams in the execution of tasking directed by the SEIT PM and per the Integrated Master Schedule.

    + Assume ownership of different portions of the development effort.

    + Recommending improvements to processes and procedures

    Basic Qualifications:

    + Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) with 12 years of related engineering experience; OR a Master’s degree in STEM with 10 years of related engineering experience, or a PhD in STEM with 8 years of related engineering experience

    + Applicants must be a current U.S. Citizen and must have a minimum of an Interim or active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Secret security clearance which is required to start work.

    + Applicants must be able to work onsite in a closed area full-time (100% onsite / 100% Closed area)

    + Requirements Derivation and Decomposition experience required

    + Managing interfaces experience required

    + Experience with MagicDraw/Cameo Systems Modeler or similar

    + DOORS or other requirements Management Experience required

    + Ability to communicate technical information clearly to both technical and nontechnical personnel

    + Demonstrated experience in requirements validation and verification

    + Demonstrated ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams required

    + Ability and willingness to travel up-to 10% to support business needs.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + MBSE Experience

    + Missile Defense or Command and Control Experience

    + Mechanical Engineering exposure - ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and analyses

    + Electrical Engineering exposure - ability to read and understand electrical schematics and analyses

    + Solid Rocket Motor experience preferred

    + Supplier Management experience preferred

    + Control Account Manager experience preferred

    + Demonstrated ability to present to the customer, upper management and/or suppliers is preferred

     

    Primary Level Salary Range: $147,700.00 - $221,500.00

     

    The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

     

    Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
