Join our Manufacturing Engineering team as an Engineer III taking the lead in sustaining and advancing our commercial production operations. Drive process improvement, equipment design, development, and validation activities that support our high-impact products. This role includes the design, qualification, and implementation of automation, fixtures, and manufacturing processes within our Clinical Sequencing Division. Success requires strong technical expertise, relevant engineering experience, and proven experience working collaboratively in a regulated manufacturing environment.
A Day in the Life:
+ Develop, optimize, and qualify manufacturing processes and equipment to improve quality, efficiency, and reliability.
+ Lead full equipment lifecycle activities — from URS creation and vendor selection through FAT/SAT, IQ/OQ/PQ, and production release.
+ Partner with operations and cross-functional teams to identify process gaps and implement data-driven improvements.
+ Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to design, specify, and integrate new automation or tooling solutions.
+ Ensure product and process quality through robust test methods, process controls, and change management compliance.
+ Assist with managing preventive maintenance programs and provide hands-on troubleshooting, repair, and operator training.
+ Support off-shift manufacturing through participation in the on-call engineering rotation.
+ Drive project execution and stakeholder alignment in cGMP and ISO-regulated environments.
Keys to Success
Education
+ BS in Mechanical, Biomedical, Industrial, Electrical, or other Engineering field.
Experience
+ 5+ years’ experience in an engineering role with direct manufacturing interface.
+ Experience with programmable logic controllers, machine vision systems, and manufacturing automation.
+ Prior exposure to regulated environments (FDA and ISO 13485) and equipment qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
+ Strong understanding of manufacturing and assembly equipment.
+ Proven ability to conceptualize, design, and implement technical solutions that improve manufacturing safety, quality, and efficiency.
+ Comfortable learning, troubleshooting, and optimizing a wide range of automated and semi-automated equipment.
+ Experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or data-driven problem solving to eliminate waste and variation.
+ Skilled in 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred) for designing fixtures, tooling, and system layouts.
+ Excels at navigating complex manufacturing processes — identifying root causes and driving continuous improvement.
+ Equally effective leading capital projects or getting hands-on on the production floor to support urgent needs.
+ Clear communicator who can translate technical details into actionable insights for cross-functional partners.
+ Builds strong relationships across cross-functional teams — thrives in a fast-moving, collaborative environment.
+ Solid grasp of manufacturing and assembly processes, with the ability to collaborate on automation and equipment design projects.

Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in Maryland is $91,700.00–$137,500.00.
This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
