    Are you passionate about Graphic Design? The Parks, Recreation, and Natural Resources (PRNR) is looking for a talented Communications Associate I to join their team! This is an entry-level communications associate position supporting the seven divisions of PRNR. The position is an integral part of the PRNR Outreach Team and assists with the department’s day-to-day and long-range print communications strategies for the department. Under the direction of the PRNR Marketing and Outreach Supervisor, this position is responsible for the design and content for a variety of projects, including print deliverables (flyers, brochures, guides, booklets, posters, signage). The position will have a focus on supporting the design and production of kiosks for various parks. The position follows department and county government procedures, policies, directives, and guidance; and ensures actions are aligned with the county’s vision, mission, and goals. The position is responsible for providing excellent customer service in each task and/or assigned project, whether for internal and/or external use.     In this role, you will...

     

    + Design production of communications materials

    + Operate a Windows-based computer using Adobe Creative Suites (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) to design, lay out, produce, illustrate, and generate print-ready and web-ready files.

    + Responsible for taking projects from initial concept stage through completion, including, but not limited to, gathering pertinent information, initial design, proofing, and final production.

    + Manage the established creative process for creating kiosk and community board content.

    + Creates PRNR materials, including capital campaigns, signature event deliverables, annual reports, kiosks, and signage.

    + Collaborate with the GIS department and Division staff to create accurate maps.

    + Maintain PRNR’s style manual, resources guide, and templates.

    + Attend project meetings with fellow PRNR staff to discuss requests, brainstorm, and plan work.

    + Monitor and track the production of projects to ensure proper and timely completion.

    + Manage and maintain graphic files, including photos, in the design archive.

    + Assists with creating and implementing design concepts and content for a variety of PRNR materials, including signature event deliverables, kiosks, and signage.

    + As directed, tracks the progress of PRNR Outreach projects.

     

    About the Schedule

    Work Hours:

    + Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

    + Typical Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (no weekends!)

    + As a reminder, all county employees are considered essential and must be prepared to protect and support the community and its citizens. Each employee, without exception, will have a duty assignment and be required to work during a disaster or declared emergency.

     

    About You

    Minimum Qualifications:

    + An associate degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Relations, Mass Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Illustration, or related.

    + Significant related experience in Public Communications or related fields may be substituted for educational requirements

    Preferred Qualifications:

    + Certifications in web development, maintenance, and social media are preferred.

    + Proficient in written and verbal communications.

    + Effective troubleshooting and web maintenance, experienced in interpersonal skills, and adept at project coordination.

    + Social media applications expertise (Facebook and Loomly),

    + Skilled Adobe Creative Suite user (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign).

    + Customer Service experience.

    + Ability to effectively work independently and as a team member, and strong prioritization ability.

     

    Subject to Passing Substance Screening: This position is subject to passing a pre-employment substance screening. An applicant who fails to pass a required drug screening test shall be disqualified from employment for a period of five years.

    About Everything Else

    Starting Pay: $25.70/hour
