The Department of Clinical Sciences mission is to assure the health and productivity of animals to meet societal needs through high quality educational programs for professional veterinary medical students, graduate veterinarians, and the public through a faculty and veterinary medical center of excellence, and to advance and disseminate comparative biomedical knowledge in an environment of interdisciplinary collaboration.

Position Summary
CSU’s Small Animal Orthopedic Medicine and Mobility ( OMM ) service is looking for a veterinary assistant to assist with the OMM service’s current VTH and Clinical Trials case load. Our service uses state-of-the-art orthopedic techniques and technology, to diagnose and non-surgically treat injury and disease of the musculoskeletal system with the goal to enhance the quality of life for pets and their owners by easing pain, restoring function, and improving quality of life.
Position Minimum Qualifications
+ Previous work experience in a veterinary clinical or hospital setting.
+ Strong communication and teamwork skills with the ability to work collaboratively with veterinarians, students, and support staff.
Preferred Qualifications
+ Demonstrated experience handling and restraining companion animals (dogs and cats) safely and effectively.
+ Experience working in a teaching hospital or clinical trials environment.
+ Knowledge of clinical recordkeeping, data collection, and handling of consent or client communication forms.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Duty/Responsibility
+ Facilitates patient handling, clinical trials data collection, diagnostics, monitoring, and treatment during appointments.
+ Assists with blood draws, and small procedures such as X-rays, CT, shockwave, or joint taps.
+ Duties are completed by this position as the patient advocate, with the goal of providing and ensuring outstanding patient care, through professional interaction with students/staff.

+ Assists in transporting patients to radiology or CT for imaging and transporting patients to the clinical treatment area and back to clients.
+ Performs duties with the goal of increasing efficiency and safety of patients during transport throughout the hospital.

+ Organizes/Stocks OMM cabinet, rounds room, and ortho treatment area.
