    Looking for an Engineering Design Lead - Engineering Manager opportunity at a place you can make a difference every day? Discover this great opportunity in our El Paso, Texas location.     Serco supports the US Army as a prime contractor for their Next Generation Command and Control (NGC2) contract which supports implementing capabilities that enable the service to employ Command Posts (CP) across the operational spectrum. Our team develops, integrates, and maintains modern and mobile solutions for an integrated CP infrastructure.

     

    You will be part of a team that works closely with the customer and other Serco functional area teams to deliver quality systems and associated supporting documentation. The team has been recognized by the Army Customer and the industry for their outstanding contributions to the program.

    In this role, you will:

    + Lead the design, development, and integration of engineering solutions for tactical platforms, shelters, and modular systems—from requirements analysis and concept generation through CAD modeling, prototyping, testing, and technical documentation.

    + Serve as the design authority, managing engineering drawings, approving design changes, and ensuring configuration control and compliance with military and industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-1472G, MIL-HDBK-454, SAE, ISO 9001).

    + Manage and mentor a multi-disciplinary team of engineers and drafters, providing technical direction, performance oversight, and fostering a culture of best practices in collaboration with Quality Management.

    + Coordinate with customers, program managers, manufacturing partners, and internal teams to ensure solutions meet established cost, schedule, and performance objectives.

    + Oversee design reviews, technical decision points, configuration audits, and platform validation activities.

    + Direct the development and maintenance of Technical Data Packages (TDP), including bills of materials (BOMs), drawings, interface diagrams, and engineering change documentation.

    + Supervise prototype builds and validation testing, ensuring seamless integration across mechanical, electrical, and data interfaces.

    + Manage design risks, maintain requirement traceability, and implement corrective actions across the engineering lifecycle.

    + Interface with stakeholders—including customers, end users, and suppliers—to ensure engineering deliverables align with technical and operational needs.

    + Contribute to proposals, cost estimates, and program planning to support business development efforts.

    Qualifications

    To be successful in this role, you will have:

    + An active Secret clearance.

    + A Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems Engineer or similar.

    + 5 years in relevant engineering design experience.

    + Experience developing and managing Technical Data Packages (Level 3 drawings, BOMs, and subassembly documentation)

    Additional desired experience and skills:

    + Master’s degree in Engineering.

    + Experience developing and managing Technical Data Packages (Level 3 drawings, BOMs, and subassembly documentation).

    + Experience supporting government programs (Army PEO C3T, PdM CPMod, PdM CPI2, or equivalent) is highly desirable.
