Amentum is seeking an IT Project Manager (Mobility Solutions) to join our team of passionate individuals in Warrenton, VA. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.
The mission of the Lone Wolf program is to support, operate, and maintain the Distributed Continuity Integrated Network - Top Secret Enterprise Services (DCIN-TS ES) which is a DoD-provided, TS/SCI, integrated voice, video, and data, global communications network that facilitates collaboration among senior leaders and key staff. The Lone Wolf program boasts a professional workforce comprised of specialists throughout the Information Technology lifecycle and who contribute to a positive work environment.

Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the IT Project Manager (Mobility Solutions) include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Provides direct leadership and oversight in support of a government customer’s critical mission requirements.
• Leads a team of 6-8 personnel, ensuring successful delivery of complex projects in a dynamic and highly regulated environment.
• Provides clear direction, sets priorities, and fosters collaboration while effectively managing friction and competing demands. Anticipates risks and adapts plans to evolving conditions, balancing mission urgency with sustainable team performance.
• Acts as both a strategic leader and a hands-on problem solver, guiding the team through complex challenges while maintaining alignment with the government client’s goals.
• Serve as the primary liaison for all engineering project-related communications, ensuring timely and accurate responses to project requests, technical inquiries, and operational needs in direct alignment with government mission objectives.
• Assist stakeholders in the development and refinement of comprehensive requirements documentation that fully captures mission-critical needs, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and technical feasibility.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and subject matter experts to evaluate complex technical challenges. Drive the development of innovative, integrated solutions that address key areas such as financial planning, scheduling, technology selection, methodologies, toolsets, and system components.
• Develop accurate Basis of Estimates (BOEs) by assessing task complexity, evaluating resource availability, and identifying project risks, ensuring informed decision-making and realistic planning.
• Build and maintain detailed project plans outlining key milestones, deliverables, task dependencies, timelines, and resource allocations, ensuring alignment with project scope and stakeholder expectations.
• Utilize project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project) to track and update project schedules, monitor budgeting estimates, and manage project performance against defined baselines.
• Oversee resource allocation and proactively manage scope changes and evolving requirements. Address and resolve conflicts or constraints to maintain project alignment and delivery.
• Identify, document, and monitor project risks and issues; develop mitigation strategies and communicate potential impacts to ensure timely resolution and prevent schedule delays.
• Provide regular project status updates and performance briefings to program leadership, highlighting progress, risks, and critical decisions to support transparency and informed oversight.
• Prepare clear, concise briefings, reports, and talking points for high-level meetings involving interdisciplinary engineering teams, interagency collaborators, and mission stakeholders across domains such as critical infrastructure protection, mission assurance, and defense support to civil authorities.
• Conduct application systems analysis and programming support activities across government-operated sites or multiple facilities, ensuring optimal system performance and alignment with mission requirements.
• Develop and maintain both long-term and short-term plans for application selection, systems development, maintenance, and production operations, while coordinating the allocation of necessary support resources to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Requirements:
• Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or the ability to acquire Top Secret/SCI
• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in engineering project management, with a demonstrated ability to lead complex, multi-disciplinary IT projects from initiation through completion.
• Proven expertise in applying both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies, with the flexibility to adapt approaches based on project scope, stakeholder requirements, and organizational constraints.
• Solid understanding of Department of Defense (DoD) acquisition policies, regulations, and processes, including knowledge of procurement lifecycle phases and compliance requirements under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).
• In-depth, hands-on experience managing and supporting IT infrastructure, including the planning, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise systems and services.
• Track record of developing and implementing solutions that directly enhance customer satisfaction, optimize service delivery, or strengthen mission effectiveness in high-stakes operational environments.
• Demonstrated technical expertise in key areas such as:
o Enterprise network infrastructure and services
o Voice over IP (VoIP) systems and video teleconferencing platforms
o Microsoft Enterprise services (e.g., Active Directory, Distributed File System, Print Services)
o Storage Area Networks (SANs)
o Enterprise-level hardware and software support
• Strong foundational knowledge of wide area and local area network (WAN/LAN) architectures, including network services, topologies, components, and terminology commonly used in enterprise IT environments.
• Proficient in the use of IT Service Management (ITSM) platforms, including Remedy and ServiceNow, for incident tracking, service request fulfillment, and workflow automation.
• Must be able to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday
• Ability to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed
• Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles
• Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project and Visio
• Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment
Clearance Required:
• Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI
Minimum Education:
• High School Diploma
Minimum Years of Experience:
• 7 years of relevant experience
Preferred:
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) or equivalent certification
• Experience with federal acquisition and contracting processes
• Knowledge of ITIL, CMMI, or similar IT process frameworks.
• Background in enterprise-level system modernization or digital transformation projects.
