    + Position Summary

    + Supports the professional clinical staff by providing direct patient care and performing duties as assigned by the RN. Ensures all actions taken in carrying out responsibilities support patient centered care.

    + Unit Specific Position Responsibilities

    + Performs patient care and treatments under supervision of a RN.

    + Lifts, moves, positions and transports patients.

    + Performs procedures as defined by department competencies.

    + Considers age, growth, and development when providing care.

    + Assists in duties as requested to meet the day-to-day operations of the unit.

    + Performs other assigned duties.

    + Maintains endoscopy equipment and accessories in working order, troubleshoots and recognizes malfunctions, monitors repairs of endoscopes, skilled in equipment assembly and accessory equipment function.

    + Follows the manufacturers’ guidelines and maintains documentation as appropriate of all necessary data: efficacy of disinfectant, changing of disinfectant, changing of filters.

    + Data entry of schedule into endoscopy system, keep status board current, data entry into disinfectors and verification of disinfect cycles, and end of day scanning of schedule and disinfector printouts.

    + Assists in procedures rooms when needed.

    + Sets up equipment for procedures and ensures necessary supplies are available. Maintains an adequate supply level in procedure rooms and utility rooms- monitors, orders, receives and shelves department stock items.

    + Transportation duties: Specimens to the lab, non-controlled drugs to and from pharmacy, patient transportation.

    + Orders supplies as directed by the Clinical Supervisor

    + Notifies Facilities and Bio-Med when equipment needs repair.

    + Able to function as unit liaison

    + Answers telephone at the nurses’ station

    + Communicates with staff in ACS, Bronch Lab and O.R.

    + Keeps Lead Nurse/Clinical Supervisor updated

    + Prints the schedules when needed

    + Answer call lights and assists physician and nurse as directed, such as hold or position.

    + Participates in staff development and orientation of new staff.

    + Assures safe, therapeutic environment for patients, families, visitors, and staff.

    + Sets priorities and demonstrates organizational skills.

    + Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe patient care and work environment, implements and follows infection control procedures according to hospital policy, SGNA guidelines, regulating agencies and manufacturers recommendations for the cleaning and disinfection of equipment.

    + Assists in assuring safe patient lifting, moving, positioning, and transporting utilizing safe patient handling equipment.

    + Ensures infection control when changing bed linens, sanitizing patient carts, completing a room turnover.

    + Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

    + Required Qualifications (Including any licensure, certification, education):

    + A minimum of 18 years of age

    + Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers training, or within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment

    + Mandatory Reporter training within 90 days of hire and must maintain throughout employment.

    + Organizational Requirements:

    + Maintain stroke education per regulatory requirements.

    + Preferred Qualifications:

    + Previous experience with cleaning and sterilization of hospital equipment.

    + Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    + Ability to demonstrate clinical competence and maintain current knowledge in providing care for infant through geriatric patients.

    + Skill in effective written communication in English.

    + Skill in effective oral communication in English. Ability to explain procedures and give information. Ability to report abnormal conditions appropriately
