Post-Doctoral Psychology Fellowship in Primary Care Behavioral Health at UT Health San Antonio
The Department of Family & Community Medicine at the Joe R. & Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine at UT Health San Antonio is accepting applications for a Faculty Specialist - Post Doctoral Psychology Fellow for our new Primary Care Behavioral Health Fellowship! This one-year full-time fellowship in Primary Care Behavioral Health has a central focus on primary care practice and the implementation of clinical health psychology in Family Medicine. The fellow will be a key member of the primary care team, providing behavioral consultation for the Family Medicine (FM) residency program. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology from an accredited psychology program (APA/CPA‐accredited program). Candidates with experience in providing behavioral health services in primary care settings within the Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) Consultation Model is a plus. Examples of clinical practice include the use of targeted assessment and interventions for behavioral health disorders, medical conditions, and health behavior change.
Duties also include assisting in the supervision of family medicine residents, medical students, and psychology residents/externs within PCBH consultation model at the Family Health Center (FHC) located at the Robert B. Green outpatient clinic campus. Candidates will also have the opportunity to assist the FM Behavioral Health Education Director with curriculum development and teaching for the FM residency. Candidates with interest and/or experience in consultation-liaison services within an inpatient medical setting are also encouraged to apply as the position can include time working with patients and trainees on the inpatient Family Medicine service. A minor rotation (up to 20% FTE) with the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology outpatient clinic will be incorporated into the fellow’s learning plan to support the professional development towards a well-rounded health service psychologist in primary care.
Lastly, weekly, structured didactics focused on primary care will be provided. Supplemental didactics will be provided specific to the minor rotation on subspeciality topics as assigned. Additionally, clinical research and quality improvement initiatives that relate to primary care and primary care training are also encouraged. The fellow will be able to complete a research or quality improvement project of their choice that supports the primary care practice and are provided with research support and time to complete the project.
Supervision toward independent licensure in Texas is provided, with candidates needing a provisional license upon acceptance.

Benefits Overview
UT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. Employees who work at least 20 hours a week, with an appointment of at least 4.5 months, are eligible for benefits.
Medical - UT SELECT Medical insurance is offered free for fulltime employees and administered by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. FSAs- Employees can enroll in flexible spending accounts (FSAs) to set aside money from earnings before taxes for qualifying dependent day care expenses or out-of-pocket health care expenses.
Retirement - Employees are eligible for either the Teacher Retirement System (TRS) or the Optional Retirement Plan (ORP). TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.
Time Off- A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:
Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year. PTO may be prorated in year one based on date of hire.
Extended Illness Bank: 8 hours (1 day) accrued per month which can be used for illness or injury after one day of Paid Time Off is taken.
Paid Family Leave: Up to 240 hours (6 weeks) to care for a spouse, child, or parent after 6 months of consecutive employment.
Holidays: 12 set paid holidays each fiscal year.
Discounts - Employees enjoy a range of discounts on services, tickets, and gym membership.
