    Job Description

    Johnson Controls is seeking a Senior HVAC Controls Technician for a 6-month contract in the DMV area. This role involves programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and maintaining HVAC control systems across large commercial sites. Techs will travel to 1–2 locations per day, with assignments provided the day prior. JCI aims to keep travel local when possible.

     

    Start date is ~2 weeks post-offer (or sooner if no notice required). Interview is 1 round, in-person. Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm.

     

    For the first 6 months, techs will use their own vehicle (mileage reimbursed at $0.70/mile). Upon conversion, a company vehicle is provided.

     

    This is a high-impact role on a growing team, ideal for someone with strong technical chops, great communication, and a commercial-only background.

    Skills and Requirements

     

    3+ years of HVAC controls experience

     

    Hands-on with DDC and BAS systems (e.g., Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider, Trane, Carrier)

     

    Strong mechanical and electro-mechanical aptitude

     

    Proficient with hand tools and electrical testing equipment (e.g., multi-meter)

     

    Excellent communication skills — personable, clear, and confident

     

    Must have commercial-only experience (no residential) Experience with Metasys (JCI’s Building Automation System)

     

    Familiarity with large commercial builds

     

    Based near Capitol Heights or DC
