UW Medical Center - Northwest Central Processing** has an outstanding opportunity for an **INSTRUMENT TECHNICIAN LEAD.
WORK SCHEDULE
+ 40 hours per week
+ Night Shift
POSITION HIGHLIGHTS
Disassemble, clean, disinfect, sterilize, assemble, and store equipment and supplies used in the Operating Room or Endoscopy. Instrument Technician Lead functions competently and independently, under the general direction of the supervisor, manager, or a Registered Nurse.
PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Assembles instrument procedure trays, packs, case carts, and kits according to the prescribed manner using content lists.
+ Inspects and tests equipment for proper function and damage, ensuring it is in good working order.
+ Wraps packages of linens, procedure trays, instruments, and equipment for sterilization; applies heat seals; and chooses the appropriate sterilization process for items, applying the correct sterilization chemical indicator and tape.
+ Maintains assigned work areas and equipment in a clean and organized condition; maintains safety and sterility standards. Cleans shelves, floors, furniture, disinfects and makes bed, empties and replaces trash and linen bags.
+ Stores, maintains, and inventories supplies and equipment.
+ Coordinates and collaborates effectively with other members of a multi-disciplinary team, including MDs, RNs, and other medical support personnel.
REQUIRED POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High school diploma or equivalent
+ Minimum of two years experience as an Instrument Technician (or equivalent experience in another related OR job), including central processing/central services and decontamination experience.
+ Basic knowledge of disinfection and sterilization principles and procedures; knowledge of hospital/surgical supplies and equipment, ability to recognize instruments by name and identify if working properly; knowledge of proper cleaning, handling, inspecting, and maintenance of equipment to assure disinfection, sterility, and proper functioning.
+ Prefer graduation from either an accredited Instrument Room Technician training program or Central Processing (Central Services) training program.
+ Prefer Central Service/Materials Management certification.

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details
Pay Range Minimum:
$28.52 hourly
Pay Range Maximum:
$41.49 hourly
Other Compensation:
$3,500 recruitment incentive to qualifying candidates
