    What You’ll Do:

    As our Expansion Planning Engineer Co-op, you’ll take on impactful projects that sharpen your technical skills and expand your career opportunities. You’ll help analyze and model scenarios that guide MISO’s long-term planning, from integrating large loads to developing weather-dependent planning strategies.

    You’ll gain hands-on experience with:

    + Power system modeling tools such as PSS®E, EMS, and Python

    + Real-world projects like large load integration and weather-driven planning scenarios

    + Cross-functional collaboration, connecting your work to MISO’s broader system reliability mission

    Working alongside your manager, mentor, and a cross-departmental “buddy” to analyze future system needs, develop planning scenarios, and contribute directly to studies that influence grid expansion decisions.     Qualifications at a Glance:

    Term: Jan 14 – May 1, 2026 | Full-time | Paid

     

    Academic Level: Undergraduate (Juniors or Seniors) or Graduate

     

    Degree: Electrical Engineering

    Required Technical Skills

    + Completion of core engineering coursework such as circuits and power systems

    + Exposure to or interest in Python, PSS®E, EMS, or other modeling systems

    Preferred Skills

    + Familiarity with system planning or modeling coursework/projects

    + Interest in grid reliability and long-term system planning
