Principal Electrical Project Engineer
As a Principal Electrical Project Engineer, you set long-term direction and partner with the Site Engineering Lead on project prioritization, support, and strategy. You serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and site representative for the design, construction, and implementation of investment projects, interfacing technical professionals from other disciplines within the region. You propose actions to direct multi-disciplinary optimization and reliability teams across sites, guiding the development of continuous improvement goals, resource prioritization, and communication of financial or other performance metrics. Acting as a technical expert for Design Standards or technical specification documents, you develop procedures, guidelines, design standards, and technologies across the Site as a subject matter expert, leading or representing the Site on corporate teams. You guide experience exchange and promote knowledge transfer with other site Engineers, championing self-development, technical training, and technical mentoring to develop and engage other engineers and area personnel. You implement the operability, reliability, and integrity of the assigned assets, providing support for electrical distribution systems and infrastructure projects within the Muscatine facility, including switchgear, transformers, transmissions, arc flash, and monitoring, with an in-depth understanding of electrical infrastructure voltages ranging from 480V to 13.8KV. You manage the site’s larger, most complex turnarounds of assigned assets, working with OEM suppliers, local vendors, and the stores to develop appropriate sparing strategies while effectively utilizing Bayer resources. You direct compliance with safety and environmental requirements and engineering standards regarding equipment and NFPA70e, complying with site safety rules and actively working to improve safety through coaching or engineered improvements. You direct and maintain equipment documentation, including equipment descriptions, spare parts, equipment lists, histories, manuals, flow sheet documentation, drawings, etc.
YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

WHO YOU ARE
Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:
Required Qualifications:
+ B.S. Electrical Engineering or related field
Preferred Qualifications:
+ At least eight years experience in an engineering setting OR M.S. with 6 years of engineering experience, preferably in a plant operation function.
Position posted until October 28, 2025.
Employees can expect to be paid an annual salary range of $114,601.60 – 171,902.40. Additional compensation may include a bonus or commission (if relevant). Other benefits include health care, vision, dental, retirement, PTO, sick leave, etc. If selected for this role, the offer may vary based on market data/ranges, an applicant’s skills and prior relevant experience, certain degrees and certifications, and other relevant factors.
