PeaceHealth is seeking a Monitor Technician CNA - Medical for a Full Time, 0.90 FTE, Day position. The salary range for this job opening at PeaceHealth is $23.18 – $34.72. The hiring rate is dependent upon several factors, including but not limited to education, training, work experience, terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement, seniority, etc.
Job Summary
This position is responsible to Assists professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, using skills and knowledge in basic nursing assistant procedures and techniques under direction and supervision of a registered nurse. This position will also have responsibility for obtaining and interpreting cardiac physiological monitoring data, documenting any changes in arrhythmias and reporting and problems to a registered nurse or physician. Also responsible for assessing and maintaining equipment to ensure proper function.
Essential Functions
+ Assist in providing direct patient care as delegated by the Registered Nurse within the scope of the CNA licensure.
+ Perform basic technical skills which may include: CPR; taking and recording vital signs; measuring and recording fluid intake/output; applying dressings; recognizing and reporting signs and symptoms of common diseases or conditions; administering treatments as directed by a physician or nurse.
+ Operate the appropriate monitoring device in accordance with physician orders. Expert at using all functions of central monitoring equipment. Assist physicians in viewing rhythm history.
+ Observe monitors continually, detecting and documenting any changes in heart rhythm and arrhythmias according to department standards. Identify and interpret EKG and relay pertinent information to physician or nurse according to department standards.
+ Assist patient with personal care which may include: bathing; mouth and skin care; grooming and dressing; toileting assistance; eating and hydration. Provide assistance to the patient with walking, exercising and moving in and out of bed.
+ Documents relevant patient care data.
+ Orient staff to central monitoring capability and role of Monitor Tech.
+ Perform clerical duties as assigned which may include: processing admissions, discharges and transfers; physician order entry, answering phones, chart processing, etc.
+ Maintain unit supplies by stocking patient rooms and supply areas to meet patient care needs.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education
+ Accredited Program Required: Acute Care Certified Nursing Assistant
+ Required: Completion of EKG class, monitoring equipment class, and order entry class within 1 month of hire
Experience
+ Minimum of 1 year Preferred: Experience in an acute care facility and experience in healthcare setting
+ Preferred: Work within cardiology specialty
+ Required: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs
Credentials
+ Required: Certified Nurse Assistant - Washington
+ Required: Upon Hire Basic Life Support
Skills
+ Basic computer skills including MS Office applications. (Required)
+ Ability to communicate clearly and concisely. (Required)
+ Basic knowledge of anatomy/physiology of the heart. (Required)

Working Conditions
Lifting
+ Patient handling no greater than 35 lbs. without the use of assistive equipment and/or devices (NIOSH).
+ Fine motor skills to be able to grasp and control medical equipment and perform precise procedures.
+ Push/Pull: Frequently up to 45 lbs. force (i.e., WOW, medical carts).
+ Perform hands on CPR at least 20 mins using 100-125 lbs. of force (National Assoc. of EMS Physicians and AHA) Frequency should be seldom or occasionally.
+ Ability to move around area with frequent sitting.
+ Bending/ stooping/ squatting/ reaching/ kneeling frequently.
+ Lifting (non-patient) up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 5 lbs. frequently.
Environmental Conditions
+ Exposure to biohazard, body fluids and airborne particles.
+ Must be able to complete tasks in a noisy environment.
Mental/Visual
+ Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted).
+ Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.
