    As a Combustor Engineering Intern, you will work closely with our experienced engineers on projects that contribute directly to the development and optimization of advanced combustor systems. This internship offers exposure spanning various aspects of combustor design, analysis, testing, and manufacturing processes.

    What You Will Do

    + Perform simulations of combustor components and assemblies to evaluate performance (e.g. computational fluid dynamics, heat transfer, etc.)

    + Support experimental testing and data analysis for combustor components and assemblies.

    + Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address technical challenges.

    + Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the Combustors department.

    + Document findings and present results to engineering teams.

    + Engineering Interns at Pratt & Whitney work on challenging, meaningful, and impactful projects across our business.

    + Our intern program seeks to help you develop an understanding of the aerospace industry and learn about our company and its operations.

    Qualifications You Must Have

    + Enrolled in a degree program in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field

    + Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0

    Qualifications We Prefer

    + Completed coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and combustion.

    + Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas

    + Experience communicating clear and effective messages to a broad audience

    + Experience in CAD software (e.g., CATIA, SolidWorks) and CFD tools (e.g., ANSYS Fluent).

    + Internship or project experience related to gas turbine engines or combustion systems.

    + Experience with experimental testing techniques and data acquisition systems.

    **Onsite** : Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

    The salary range for this role is 37,000 USD - 82,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

     

    RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

     

    Hired applicants may be eligible for benefits, including but not limited to, medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short-term disability, long-term disability, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, flexible work schedules, employee assistance program, Employee Scholar Program, parental leave, paid time off, and holidays. Specific benefits are dependent upon the specific business unit as well as whether or not the position is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement.

     

    Hired applicants may be eligible for annual short-term and/or long-term incentive compensation programs depending on the level of the position and whether or not it is covered by a collective-bargaining agreement. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.

     

    This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
