The Effectors Electro-Optics Subsystems Department at Raytheon in Tucson, AZ is currently searching for a **_Senior Optical Integration Engineer_** **,** with strong optical system integration and test skills to be the Electro-optics Technical lead for the Javelin Portfolio, with specific focus for the Light Weight Command Launch Unit (LWCLU) and Missile Development and Production. The Technical Lead will work closely with all disciplines associated with missile production including Program Management, Chief Engineers, Quality, Supply Chain and Production Operations to ensure the technical integrity of our products is maintained and performs as intended every time. The Technical Lead’s knowledge base will be used to lead and/or support failure investigations, obsolescence redesigns, factory escapes, supplier issues and much more. The ability to calmly but quickly review and analyze information and make decisions and/or recommendations is critical in this role.
The Technical Lead also provides both technical guidance and supervision in meeting project commitments. Allocating time to mentor newer engineers is also key to the success of the team and program. They also manage suppliers and may lead efforts in proposal development.
This leadership role drives technical and programmatic excellence as part of the program team. The Technical Lead will be part of a dynamic and multidisciplined development team, providing leadership and establishing a vision to inspire the team to exceed program objectives. The position requires a strong engineering development background and collaboration across internal teams. This role also involves close collaboration with the other Team Leads and Chief Engineering leadership to address programmatic concerns, ensure adherence to schedules, budgets, and technical objectives, and deliver compliant solutions to customers while fostering strong stakeholder relationships.
The selected candidate will work on a multi-disciplined team to assist in development and production programs across the portfolio of Raytheon Electro-Optics products. The chosen team member may be asked to participate in or lead EO subsystem integration and innovation efforts that could include design, design review, production support, process and metric development.
What You Will Do:
+ Be responsible for the technical integrity of the Javelin LWCLU assembly.
+ Leadership of integration activities including technical responsibilities
+ Manage the technical risk for the LWCLU Electro-optical designs and provide Subject Matter Expert oversight and advice for the Javelin missile optical sub-systems
+ Lead and/or provide technical oversight of failure investigations, including assigning Failure Investigation Team members
+ Provide guidance and assistlower level engineers in tasking priority and training related to the Javelin systems.
+ Support component level design and test reviews
+ Work environment is primarily in an office, but may include labs, field work, or a combination.
+ Work with suppliers and customers for procuring and demonstrating capabilities in lab or field environments.
+ Provide technical oversight/mentorship over staff of Engineers. Focus placed on engineering task execution, technical rigor, etc.
+ Collaboration with both Functional and Program higher level management
+ Coordinate with Senior IPT for cross-functional prioritization.
+ Collaboration with Customer and Suppliers
+ Collaborate and coordinate with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, and other Engineering disciplines to resolve issues that may arise during production, testing, and integration.
+ Optical alignment/testing of telescope assembly
+ Implementation of automated test and assembly processes
+ Analysis of test data from electro-optic sensors or seekers
+ Design of analysis tools for optical sensors
+ Working with engineering and production personnel to troubleshoot and provide root cause and corrective action to design and process issues
+ Support production related activities in the assembly and documentation of electro-optical subsystems
+ Assignments may require some travel, including foreign travel.
Qualifications You Must Have:
+ Typically requires a Bachelor of Science in Optics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum 6 years of experience in optical design, system integration and test, or data analysis, or lead of integration activities.
+ Experience with LWCLU Optical Design, Assembly and Test
+ Experience with the Fusion Test Environment
+ Experience in modelling and drawings in Creo Parametric.
+ Experience in drawing release and cPDM processes.
+ The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance prior to the start date. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
Qualifications We Prefer:
+ Master of Science in Optics, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Physics or related discipline
+ Leadership of technical teams, including technical oversight and direction, cost estimation, tracking& reporting, coordination, preparation of detailed technical team reports, and proposal support.
+ Able to network / influence outside of the department with other design and production support organizations, program leadership, other engineering disciplines and Manufacturing organizations
+ Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint to be able to communicate technical analyses and test results to a variety of audiences
+ Interpersonal skills with the ability to interact positively with peers, suppliers, management, and customers in a production environment
+ Proven experience in balancing engineering process discipline and innovation for rapid development and program success
+ Competency in the use of computer analysis tools such as MatLab and/or IDL
+ Experience writing C++ code
+ Experience with EO test equipment, test automation scripting, test conduction, sensor control
+ EO sensor integration and verification experience
+ Working knowledge and exposure to laboratory measurement equipment or techniques for optics, detectors, and EO/IR subsystems data
+ Familiarity with production test processes and test problem report disposition
+ Ability to develop and present technical briefings
+ Current/Active DoD security clearance or SSBI
+ Experience in troubleshooting investigations and processes
+ Experience leading failure investigation teams
+ Experience with test equipment, test automation scripting, test conduction, sensor control
+ Experience with hardware/software integration.
+ ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. 3.0 cumulative GPA desired
+ Demonstrated ability to work effectively with coworkers from diverse communities and cultures
+ Demonstrated ability to work with colleagues who represent a diversity of work and conflict resolution styles
+ Direct experience with EO design, lab, test and/or production support

The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
