The Department of Art invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Graphic Design position, beginning Spring 2027. We are seeking a versatile and innovative designer and educator who will thrive in an environment that combines contemporary digital design with traditional fine arts practices. The successful candidate will contribute through teaching, research, student advisement, college service, and continuing professional development.
The Department of Art offers undergraduates a rigorous foundation, both methodological and theoretical, in the creation and study of the visual arts, equipping students with the skills and perspectives needed to pursue careers as creative professionals.

Duties include but are not limited to:
+ Teaching courses in:
+ Graphic design
+ Typography
+ Graphic Design History
+ Motion Graphics
+ Teaching introductory Digital Art classes
+ Mentoring students through their studies and providing guidance for post-graduation success in the professional field
+ Teaching a full-time 3-4 load
+ Engaging in continuous creative activity and professional growth
+ Serving as an academic advisor to students
+ Performing departmental and University-wide services
+ Taking a leadership role in developing and promoting growth in this area of our BS and BFA program

Job Requirements:
Required Qualifications:
+ Terminal degree in Graphic Design or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and professional experience
+ Evidence of exceptional creative work demonstrating excellence in creativity, design, and digital skills
+ Expertise in industry standard software as demonstrated in a submitted portfolio
+ Experience in the professional field of Graphic Design
+ Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and students in the context of a public regional university with a vibrant BFA degree program
Preferred:
+ Two years of teaching experience beyond Teaching Assistant level
+ Evidence of an ability to develop curricula, both introductory and advanced, that encompasses conceptual and applied issues in design
+ Skills and knowledge in areas such as Branding, Packaging, Infographics, and Graphic Design History
+ Secondary expertise in a complimentary field such as Photography, Illustration, Visual Effects, or other related fields
+ Experience in teaching, mentoring, and / or research
+ Experience teaching diverse populations and/or experience serving or working with diverse and/or multicultural populations
