Vehicle Evaluation & Testing Operations is looking for a NVH Technologist with a strong and diverse NVH background to lead full vehicle and component NVH Testing. The Advanced Engineering Center (AEC) conducts testing associated with structural or airborne noise and vibrations through the body and chassis vehicle systems. Our NVH testing centers around tactile and audible measurements and how they relate to the customer experience.
This position is within Vehicle Evaluation and Verification (VEV), Ford Motor Company’s global testing organization. The Advanced Engineering Center (AEC) conducts testing associated with structural or airborne noise and vibrations through the body and chassis vehicle systems. Our NVH testing centers around tactile and audible measurements and how they relate to the customer experience. Test data obtained can be used for competitive benchmarking, design target setting, and noise path analysis, tracking the performance of prototype bodies and fixing potential deficiencies at an early stage of body/chassis structure development. Vehicle Evaluation & Testing Operations is looking for a NVH Technologist with a strong and diverse NVH background to lead full vehicle and component NVH Testing. The Advanced Engineering Center NVH test laboratories support both sign off and development test requirements. Flexible work schedule and position may include afternoon shift assignment.
What you'll do...
Modal and Static Stiffness Test Labs:
+ Instrument vehicles per test requirements (accelerometers, microphones, LVDT).
+ Perform the prescribed testing plan: Modal testing, hammer impacts, vehicle deflection.
+ Full operational knowledge of the LMS data acquisition system .
Kinematics & Compliance Test Lab:
+ Full vehicle instrumentation Kinematics & Compliance (K&C) testing.
+ MTS K&C machine operation.
+ Full operational knowledge of the MTS K&C data acquisition system.
You'll have...
High School Graduate or equivalent.
5+ years of experience in NVH data acquisition / digital signal analysis, NVH transducers and equipment installation and operation.
Even better, you may have...
2+ years of experience as a vehicle mechanic.
Basic instrumentation experience, including, accelerometers, microphones, encoders, thermocouples and other sensors required for NVH testing including wiring, verification of operation and calibration.
Basic operation of Siemens LMS NVH test measurement system.
Experience performing tests on vehicle, body-in-prime, and component test stands.
Troubleshooting experience of all aspects of prototype vehicles and systems to ensure proper operation and test validity.
Strong computer skills, ability to use more than one software programs simultaneously.
Strong interpersonal and technical leadership ability.
Positive customer service mindset with a “can do” attitude.
Strong communication and planning skills with a proven track record for delivery.
Demonstrated problem solving skills with proactive approach.
Self-starter capable of learning new technology with a continuous improvement mindset.
Comfortable with team-oriented workplace, interacts well with engineers, requestors and management.
Good oral and written communication skills.

This position is a range of salary grades SG5-SG6.

This position is hybrid. Candidates who are in commuting distance to a Ford hub location may be required to be onsite four or more days per week.
