    POSITION SUMMARY

    This position coordinates the medical staff functions including call schedules, peer review, and provider credentialing for new applicants, provisional reviews, and reappointments to the Prairie Ridge Health (PRH) Medical Staff. The Medical Staff Specialist works directly with the Rural Wisconsin Health Cooperative (RWHC) to request the distribution of medical staff applications for new applications and reappointments. This person receives completed applications and credentialing information from the RWHC and reviews the applicant information for completeness and compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws as well as CMS and The Joint Commission's requirements. They assemble all verified information and prepare credentials and peer review files for presentation. This person attends and facilitates Credentialing Committee and Peer Review Committee meetings as appropriate such as preparing agendas and minutes and completing follow-up action items as directed by the committee. They maintain thorough knowledge of the Medical Staff Bylaws, the CMS Regulations and The Joint Commission Medical Staff standards and ensure compliance. The Medical Staff Specialist coordinates all providers on call schedules ensuring adequate call coverage meet the needs of hospitalized patients acting as the Superuser, and facilitator of the EZ-Call online scheduling program for providers. This position requires critical thinking, organization, time management skills, self-direction, follow-through, loop closure, independent research and problem-solving skills, and typically functions without daily supervisory oversight. Works under the direction of the Vice President of Patient Care Services in collaboration with the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services.

    EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS/LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRATION:

    + High school diploma or equivalent required.

    + Associate or bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, Health Information Management, or health related field preferred.

    + Previous experience in a clerical role or administrative assistant role required.

     

    Shift: Monday-Friday

     

    FTE: 0.8-1.0 (32-40 hours per week)
