Job Summary:
The IT Technician II is responsible for providing comprehensive technical support and maintenance for all technology equipment and systems used throughout K-12 education, with a specialized focus on Student Information System Services (SISS) - Special Education. This role works closely with teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure all technology systems are functioning properly and any issues are resolved promptly to support student learning. The specialist provides Endpoint support for hardware, software, and network infrastructure, often serving as a key escalation point for district staff. Core functions include installing and securing network infrastructure, managing technology assets, developing operational documentation, and delivering technical training.
Qualifications:
+ One of the following: Official transcripts verifying an Associate's degree with an emphasis in technology support, OR two years in a vocational program with an emphasis in technology support
+ Two years of demonstrated experience providing computer hardware and software to users. Additional experience may be substituted, year for year, for education.
+ Recency (prior 10 years) and substance of work experience will be considered in determining applicant qualifications
+ Knowledge of Washington State, K-12 Skyward and/or Synergy systems, preferred
+ Familiarity with Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office suite, and Google Workspace and Gmail.
+ Ability to work well with teachers, students, and other support staff, and communicate technical information effectively.
+ Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
+ Ability to work collaboratively with staff and faculty
+ Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
+ Regular attendance on site to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program goals.
+ Ability to lift and move technology equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to sit or stand for long periods.
+ Required use of personal vehicle.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Student Information System Services (SISS) – Synergy SE
+ Provide technical support to teachers, students, and staff for all hardware and software used in K-12 education, including desktops, laptops, tablets, printers, projectors, interactive whiteboards, Student Information Systems, and other classroom technology.
+ Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software for both network and standalone systems, including servers, switches, routers, and other network devices.
+ Maintain accurate records of all technology assets, including equipment inventory, software licenses, and maintenance agreements.
+ Troubleshoot and diagnose network, software, and hardware issues, and work with vendors and other support staff to resolve any issues in a timely manner.
+ Provide training to teachers, students, and staff on the use of technology, including software applications and online tools.
+ Implement and maintain network security measures to protect data and ensure compliance with district policies and regulations.
+ Experience maintaining confidential student information and knowledge and understanding of state and federal laws mandating such.
+ Ability to advance and adapt with technological, policy and practice changes.
+ Ability to work with a diverse range of education professionals with varying levels of technical ability.
+ Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, to multi-task, answer multiple phone lines, work with a ticketing system and work effectively with frequent interruptions.
+ Stay current on emerging technology trends and make recommendations for future upgrades and improvements to the district's technology.
+ After-hours support may be required (weekends and evenings) as needed.
+ Assumes other responsibilities and performs other work as assigned.
Team: SISS/Endpoint
Team Specific Responsibilities and Skills:
+ Demonstrated Proficiency in providing support for end users in person, via phone, and via written methods (email, text, ticketing systems, etc).
+ Acts as Tier I support as well as an escalation point for support requests from building level support staff.
+ Experience creating and managing tickets to track support requests and ensure timely resolution.
+ Proficiency in the use of computers and software applications including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, PowerPoint or the Google Workspace equivalent applications, inventory management systems, and remote assistance solutions.
+ Provides training for departments and school sites in the use of district issued devices and software.
+ Assists in developing and documenting the operating procedures and practices related to device and application use.
+ Assumes other responsibilities and performs other work as assigned.
It is understood that the district has the right to transfer and assign employees to best fit the needs of the district. This is a full-time, 12-month position, with a competitive salary and benefits package. The IT Technician II will report to the assigned Team Lead who reports to the Director and will work closely with other members of the IT team and other departments of the district.
Benefits/Compensation:
Salary range: New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts, may receive experience credit towards salary placement. Time Off: Vancouver Public Schools offers paid holidays and paid time off, including but not limited to, sick, vacation, personal, and bereavement leave.
+ Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (part-time employee accrual will be proportionate to their FTE).
+ Personal Leave: 3 days per school year
+ Twelve (12) month full-time Pro Tech employees are eligible to accrue ten (10) days vacation at one (1) - five (5) years of service. The accrual days are incrementally improved by five (5) days at the completion of five (5), eleven (11) and twenty (20) consecutive years of service respectively.
