Your New Role** **:
The Sr. Unreal Tech Artist will be responsible for the build of virtual environments and AR graphic elements as well as blueprint the functionality for studio shows and in-game remote productions. This person will work with the Sr. UI Developer on the integration of these elements into the UI, assist with in studio or remote testing of elements and hand off to playout operators.
Your Role Accountabilities:
Creative:
+ Take the design from art directors or designers and build in Unreal Engine with the direction from the Sr. Technical Lead, XR Creative Lead, and the creative direction from partners.
+ Able to think through builds and blueprinting functions strategically for long term goals
+ Will perform testing of elements and set up of virtual environments in studios
+ Responsible for data integration into AR elements through API access
+ Responsible for coding for integration into UI platform
+ Offer creative and technical solutions
+ On call to troubleshoot issues if an issue arises during a broadcast
+ Understanding of studio lighting
+ Understanding of camera and lens information
+ Keep up with latest technology and software programs that can be used to enhance the XR & Virtual capabilities
Operations:
+ Fill out necessary work order information
+ Able to execute based on given timeline / schedule to meet deadlines
+ Good communication skills with XR team and partners
Qualifications & Experiences:
Core Knowledge
• Unreal Engine (UE4/UE5) – deep understanding of the engine’s architecture
• Blueprint Scripting – advanced knowledge of event-driven systems, variables, macros, functions, and interfaces
• C++ Programming – ability to write and optimize gameplay systems, tools, and custom components
• Materials & Shaders – knowledge of Unreal’s Material Editor.
• Animation Systems – familiarity with control rigs, blend spaces, state machines, and retargeting
Technical Skills
• Tool Development – create and maintain custom tools (in Blueprints or Editor Utility Widgets / Python)
• Profiling & Optimization – identify bottlenecks and optimize GPU/CPU usage
• Visual Scripting & Procedural Workflows – use of Niagara, World Position Offset, spline tools, etc.
• Version Control – experience with Git, Perforce, or similar systems
• Automation – familiarity with Python or scripting for pipelines and editor workflows
Artistic Understanding
• Basic knowledge of 3D modeling, UVs, and texturing.
• Basic understanding of lighting, VFX, post-processing, and rendering pipelines
Not Required but preferred experience:
+ Understanding of cyber security risks and precautions
+ On set virtual production experience
+ Can provide opinions and participate in brainstorming sessions and/or technical strategy meetings.
+ Familiarity with AI tools.
